Starting to pick up things where I left them almost exactly two years ago :) I spent a bit of time updating written worldbuilding and now slowly return to sketching around. This is an idea for a species within the Neor (blackbeaks) biological suborder. I was figuring them out back then, then only had heads without more ideas, then at least their phylogenetic tree, and now everything’s moving forward a little :)
Since Nero lives with Kyrie and Nico (and the boys) I would think it has an influence on him? Not in how he acts at home, but in ways like he may have mistaken Kyrie's shampoo as his own and goes off smelling like coconuts. (Sorry if this doesn't make sense and I can't quite put this in words 😰😰)

Well, it could be entirely possible that that already started back before DMC4 - it’s not really said, but I headcanon that with basically growing up with Kyrie (and Credo), Nero stayed over a lot.
So when Nico moves in and the boys are part of the mix, too, it’s basically like back then - shampoos get mixed up, Nero sits down in the evening / morning to help the girls with their hair (Nico’s hair can be a right bird nest when it gets all frizzed up after working over weapons for a while). Lunch packets get mixed up and Nico ends up with sandwiches that had the crust cut off instead of whatever she wanted to take with her originally (not that she minds).

Also this was really hard because I don’t know how to art and I haven’t done any pixel edits/recolours for years.
Some more blackbeak sketching. I applied the color scheme to these creature sketches from 2018 (1) and (2), and played a little with their poses. @spearxwind had the idea that those jellyfish-esque animals could be larval stages, and I like that a lot :) There’s little time for long bouts of personal drawing, but slow and steady is better than the hiatus :)
I took the image of the blackbeak as a base and just doodled around with whatever little idea came to mind. Maybe it’d be cool to just roll with it and make a slew of aquatic creatures with those features :)
