[๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ'๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ - ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐] My next trek in Nepal was the Annapurna Circuit - (probably) the most well-known after Everest Base Camp. I was joined on this trek by @paddy_izx, whom I met in Hong Kong after my departure from Japan. The only problem? When he showed up in Nepal he was walking with a cane, a limp, and a large wound on his leg because he decided to fall off a scooter in Myanmar before making his way over.โฃ โฃ Despite it all, he really pulled through and managed a huge day from (for those of you familiar with the route) Manang, up to Tilicho Lake, and then back down to Tilicho Base Camp. Still proud of you for that effort, buddy.โฃ โฃ But if I'm being honest, the Annapurna Circuit has been my least favorite hike in Nepal. There is a road that you're either walking on or that's paralleling the trail just across the river on the other side of the valley for probably 85% of the hike (and the constant blaring of the rediculous circus horns that all the buses and trucks have is obnoxious) and the lodges are so used to trekkers that people are outside of them calling for your to come and stay. My experiences in the Everest Region and on the Manaslu Circuit were far more enjoyable than the Annapurna Circuit.โฃ โฃ That said, the Annapurna Circuit still offers incredible scenery. I would suggest it if it's "your first time backpacking/trekking" and you want to have an adventure in Nepal (Everest Base Camp is a good call, too). Just remember that altitude is serious and that drinking in every village, not acclimatizing, and thinking the entire thing is just a party, is probably a great way to earn yourself a very expensive helicopter ride (or an incredibly uncomfortable jeep/bus ride) back to Pokhara or Kathmandu.
