would you say nephit and atrax et al are... anthropods?
this is a well-crafted pun but the analyst portion of my brain just took over and so i gotta run with it. So my answer is “depends on how you mean it.”
"anthropomorphize" means "to ascribe human form or attributes to"
On the “human form” end, absolutely not. they are physically giant spiders. not spider-centaurs or humanoids with spider characteristics. they are spiders that are Big.
On the “attributes” end, absolutely.
nephit, on the surface, seems like a textbook narcissist, but is actually like that one tabletop gamer who dumped all his build points into charisma (and sewing). very compassionate and an excellent diplomat when he chooses to be.
atrax on the other hand, has no points in charisma and has a number of negative modifiers for that as well. but once she’s decided to be loyal to someone or something, she’ll do anything to protect them/it. in fact, i’d label her a very scary, very intense hufflepuff as she values justice and loyalty above most else and has killed people over violations of both.
So yeah, nephit and atrax have very human attributes.
As for the “et al” portion, “anthropods” in no way applies to the leeches, toads, or humans. the centipedes, malpir, and other arthropod titans (that may or may not be canon. still working on that), the term does apply in the same way it would apply to atrax and nephit.
...sorry for killing the joke with analysis. kinda. it gave me a reason to talk about my ocs. so not *that* sorry :P
