This was only partially the truth; Ephram had eaten most of the cupcake Nixie had made for him slowly, contemplatively, lying in his bed in the trailer after he’d cleaned it up. Then he’d gotten up and carefully placed the last bite back into its container, a tupperware jewel box, and tucked it into his freezer.
