You groggily flop over to your left, groaning from the morning sun peeking through the blinds. Several times you've considered covering the window with curtains to help you sleep through the mornings, but you have never gotten around to it since your roommate never bothers to remind you. Turning your body back around sounds like it would be a good idea, but if you did then you wouldn't get a chance to see your pawsitively purrfect roommate wake up with you! Thinking about how cute she is when she first opens her eyes makes your heart flutter and fills your stomach with the biggest of butterflies. Even though you try your hardest to be subtle with glancing at her in the mornings, somehow she always guesses that you're looking. You find it odd that you can't fool her, even when she can't see you fiddling with your thumbs and twirling your hair from nervousness. She says you smell fishier than usual when you're trying to hide something from her, but you assume that's just her own way of using cat puns for your pleasure! In fact, her usage of cat puns is one of your favourite things she does, aside from when she brushes her fingers through your hair to help you stay in slumber or paaawwssibly when she drops her food off her fork and gets flustered trying to pretend you didn't see it. Everything she does is insufferably adorable to you, but you can't let her know, oh no! The pawssibility of ruining a purrfect friendship isn't worth the extra cuddles, at least not right meow.
"Nep, are you awake yet?" your roommate attempts to enunciate in your direction, lightly patting around the bed in search of your body. You take a minute to gather yourself away from the fluffy thoughts you were running through, and reassuringly place your hand on top of hers to let her know you're still there.
"Oh of course, I'm right here Tez!" you chirp with a helpful tone. You sit up to assist her with reaching her glasses, and once she's in possession of them you smile and pull yourself away from her as much as you can while remaining in the bed. You always thought she was uncomfortable sharing one bed, but it seems to be large enough to satisfy the two of you, and she's only complained about it when you stretch out and invade her space, waking her in a fright. Luckily, this was a much more peaceful morning, so you wanted to give her as much space as you could so that she could gather herself without being bothered by your clingy tendencies. Unlike most mornings where she flattened her hair and readjusted her clothing with a smile, she simply sat there with a disappointed look on her face.
"You smell far away," she stated blatantly. Your eyebrow rose with confusion as you considered asking why that would bother her, but as you opened your mouth she reached out for you aimlessly with a look of worry as you were just out of her reach. You inched forward, feeling only the resistance of bedsheets underneath you. Her fingertips graze your shoulder, and you perk up at the feeling of her cold touch. You felt relieved that she couldn't see the blush on your face as she moved closer to you too, with a determined speed to not be alone.
"Is everything alright Tez?" you question, pawndering her peculiar behavior. She simply smiles and moves her hand from your shoulder to the back of your neck, pulling you into a quick embrace. Even though her hands were cold, the heat from your body quickly spread to her's from the small distance between the two of you. Shaken by her assertiveness, your eyes dance around aimlessly, looking for a target to focus on, to no avail. Your usual target isn't very visible, so you simply choose flick your eyes shut and wrap your arms around your roommate in response. She nuzzles her face into you softly, as you stay stationary with fear of ruining the precious moment. A few moments into your embrace, you could swear a tear dropped onto your shoulder, but no noise emitted from her mouth of pain. You wanted desperately to know what was bothering her, but instead you kept your eyes shut tightly, your arms locked firmly around her back, for she was the blind girl you loved, and you were the deaf girl she relied on.
