hi!! I just read the essay about marginalised people and the roles they are expected to take and I wanted to say that if found it so interesting!
I also wated to add something related about disabled people trying to find work and their expected role. disabled people-- both those with physical and mental disabilities-- are expected to be unemployed or have an 'easy job' eg. retail, the 'starving artist' stereotype or working part time. desirable work places or work places that are considered important do not provide needed accommodations, making it impossible for a disabled person to work without extreme pain, discomfort or destroying their physical and metal health. they are then labelled as 'lazy' for not wanting to destroy themselves for a job and system that doesn't care about them. this is a direct result of the productivity obsessed capitalist hellscape we live in; if someone is considered to not be contributing enough or in a meaningful way to society in the eyes of capitalism, they are not only lazy and useless, but completely expendable. and I think it's a very similar reason as to why cleaners, child minders, servers, hairdressers and other jobs that are typically seen as poc or female dominated are considered trite or not as important as male dominated industries. and even within the 'important jobs' the part that is relegated to women and poc is always considered the less crucial or serious one, like doctors and nurses, professors and elementary school teachers.
anyway all this to say I liked your essay and it gave me some Thoughts that I needed to say at someone.
HI MOOTIE! Thank yew for reading the essay!! <3 I completely glossed over this in the essay and for that I am so sorry! But you have managed to encapsulate it so well and the fact it does all lead back to capitalism lol, I have another essay in the works focused on how the inhumane nature of today is directly linked to capitalism.
