I think you would be thrilled to see what I've done. You always understood that when it comes to design, I am relentless.

You would tell me you expected this. You seemed to know my future better than I did.

You would be my only friend to understand the reference "that business in Delaware doesn't, doesn't count."

You meant a lot of things to a lot of people. I rarely talk about this because I feel I'm just a small part of a larger story.

I never question if you were still here if we would still be friends because Wu-Tang Forever.

I miss you, Lauren. I can still hear how you pronounced certain words. I can only hope I have become what you believed in. I hope I have become what you always saw.

Lauren was the most beloved Democrat in America. She was Nerdy McHotPants. She was the cheese in macencheeze. She was a wife, she was our friend & she was loved. And she is a fucking inspiration.

Stupid answers to simple questions

(with apologies to Nerdy and Mac) (and Jenna)

NMHP: So what do you do?

Me: I'm not really sure...

NMHP: How does that work?

JSQ: He's really not, his job keeps changing.

Me: It does. My buddy asked me when I'd be back and he said "Get ready, big changes happening fast".

NMHP: Oh...

Me: I mean, I started in presales on the phone and then moved to tech support and then got trained on our two new products which I now also do written support for (that's email) for 12 countries and then I'm also a mentor, mentor coordinator, and mentor resource, but I've been working on some DSAT stuff which is basically high level analytics and call center metrics but we've started doing some drilling down stuff to the nuts and bolts and I might be starting to do some manpower surveys and...stuff.

Mac: Cool.

NMHP: I don't know what that means.

Me: Basically, I work in a call center doing tech support. And written support. And training new people.

NMHP: Got it.

Me: But now I'm also figuring out what works and why and what doesn't and how to fix it and how to best utilize the personnel resources available to us.

NMHP: So you work in a call center.

Me: Yes. Basically.

JSQ: Basically.

Me: We're just seeing how many job titles we can cram in after my name, but my paycheck still says "Tier One Tech Support".

NHMP: Got it.

Ok, ok, I'm back.

I wasn't ignoring you, wait, yes I was, but not because I don't love you, I do, I do.

But.

Jenna was here, so, sorry, but you all take a distance 2nd in my span of attention when she's next to me.

We had a blast. Lots of couch time, food, movies, a road trip to the Gulf, dinner with some super-cool tumblrs, it was a most excellent 6 days.

Now she's off the to the left coast for a couple of days as I sit here and fight Empty Apartment Syndrome. But wait, I love living alone. I mean I LOVE it. But I miss her when she's not here.

I guess that's the thing, huh? Find someone you like being around as much as you like being alone? It's probably a thing.

So, what I miss?
