An open letter to Alex Day

ALEX I REALLY HOPE YOU READ SOME OF THE POSTS ON THIS TAG BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO READ THIS - ESPECIALLY AFTER SAYING THAT IT WAS OUR CHOICE WHETHER TO CARRY ON SUPPORTING YOU OR NOT!!!

okay, here we go (most of this is something I have never shared before to anyone): I discovered your videos and music when I was in one of the darkest places of my life, I’d just been convinced not to walk infront of a landrover by another person accidentally stealing my thunder but I was still thinking in that mind frame. So one night after a very emotional outburst, I’ve got my laptop playing a YouTube mix of your music - most of which I’ve never heard before - and I’m lying there on my bed crying and wishing things would end. Out of nowhere Good Morning Sunshine came on and all I thought at first was “oh it’s another Alex Day song but then the chorus kicked in and I stopped crying and started to realise that what I’d been doing for so many weeks was stupid and I’d been foolish to think in that area at all. Granted, I have still had episodes where ending things has been a considered option but since that one song, that one song I have been able to take a more positive outlook on life. After hearing it and sorting myself out, I started watching your YouTube videos religiously - feeling sad when they took a while to come around and feeling ridiculously overjoyed when they came along! When you said you’d be releasing new music this year in 2014 I could have been described as the happiest transwoman in the UK!! I even got your pirates of love symbol tattooed on my back, this was after your tumblr post about everything but before I’d found out about it. Someone criticised me for having it, saying that it was as bad as having a LostProphets tattoo but I defended it - were it not for you, I would NOT be here today so please, make at least one more video for us. Just one will do because we’ve seen what happens to YouTubers who disappear because of potentially problematic circumstances - Eddplant said he may one day return but with the reception he gets on twitter, it looks unlikely - Just one video explaining everything cause a Tumblr post does not help a case, even speaking as a fan, I’d say all it does is highlight that all you want to do is hide away behind a monitor in your dream flat which is not the sign of a “returning youtuber”. I get it, you’ve been shamed, disappointed in yourself and things will never be as easy for you now when it comes to content creation but hiding won’t solve anything! You can either take it on the chin and get back on YouTube (it won”t be the same but it will still atleast be something for those who still want to see your 11 minute videos that sort of tail off) or you can stay behind the monitor, giving those who believed in you the finger and living off Sopio produce and all the Nermie Army success until it runs out.  I sincerely hope you do get the chance to read this,  To anyone who reads this and sends me hate messages saying that I need to be realistic and realise that “Alex is a freak/rapist/scum” then don’t bother - it’s not what this post is about.
