Alas, he‘d been in a hurry, knowing that Dantewould‘ve pulled his ass out of the bed regardless. He felt horrible, leavingyou alone wasn‘t what he‘d planned for today and therefore he wanted to make upfor it. He was surprised to find you laying in bed still, curled up in the blankets,facing the wall. You weren‘t asleep, your muscles twitched as he closed thedoor and he gave a low sigh as he walked over. Nero hated the fact that hecouldn‘t spend time with you like he wanted to. It was harsh on both of you butyou still somehow managed to make things work. Today just wasn‘t a good day for the both of you. „Hey there-“ he mumbled as he sat down next to you, smiling as you immediatelyrolled over to rest your head on his chest. He ran his fingers through yourhair and wrapped his bringer around your smaller form, rubbing soothing circlesinto your skin, as best as he could. Leaning down he pressed a soft kiss toyour temple, figuring he‘d just let you rest for a little while. „You good? I know you‘ve had it rough these last few days.“You nodded, sighing with exhaustion as you gazed at him. You knew it wasn‘t hisfault that he couldn’t spend time with you but sometimes you wished his hugswould last a little longer, his kisses weren‘t as rushed and hurried as theywere now. You‘d missed spending time with him and due to everything that hadbeen going down lately, you just wished for some sort of comfort, some place torest. You listened to his heartbeat before looking back up at him, giving a softsigh. „I‘m good. Just… restless. I missed you.“ Your heart sank at the guilty look hesent your way and you appreciated the fact that he held you tighter, his lipspressing to your forehead once more. It wasn‘t his fault. It really wasn‘t. „I know… Things just don‘t wanna work out right now… I told Dante that I need aday off though-“ You blinked up at him in surprise, cocking your head slightly.He gave a soft smile and ran his fingers through your hair once more. „Can‘t have you laying in bed all day, right? Kicked his ass today and he stillowes me for that mission I took 3 weeks ago. He can kiss my ass, tomorrow‘sjust us.“ Your eyes lit up almost immediately and you couldn’t help but smile at him, theprospect of finally being able to spend time with him again just made youincredibly happy. „There. Better. All smiles.“ He chuckled before pulling you in for a sweet,gentle kiss. You couldn’t be happier.
