NERPC Review Highlights Smart grid India Gaps
Documents prepared for the 23 July NERPC Telemetry Sub-Committee meeting show the North-East's ULDC-III SCADA/EMS project cost increasing to Rs 688.61 crore, a 32% rise from the previously approved estimate due to higher server and memory prices. The papers also reveal that Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh continue to report telemetry availability of only around 30%, significantly below the required 70% operational target.
The review also notes maintenance challenges and coordination issues affecting regional grid observability, highlighting the need for continued investment in digital grid infrastructure.
