Mikoto & Nesaku [Friendship] moodboard
“You’re the first mortal in a long time whose name I actually remember.” “We didn’t really talk about much though.”
✚ ✔ ✿ ■ ‽ ♫ ♯ ✎ ✈ (Ume, Nesaku, Zuha)
✚: What is the most frightening potential handicap or disfigurement your muse can conceive? What makes it so frightening?
It’s the same for them as it would be for Mika, Hi, Ihasaku, and Tsumi.
✔: What did your muse want to be when they were a child? Did they go on to do this and if so, was it everything that they hoped it would be? Or has this desire changed since, and why?
Ume wanted to be a great and powerful fire goddess…
That…
didn’t…
work…
out…
Nesaku didn’t really want to do anything much with his life. He just wanted it to be quiet and happy… He feels pretty satisfied with where his life is.
Zuha… Zuha wanted to be someone powerful enough to look after Tsumi and Kura… Zuha never really thought he’d be able to achieve that dream.
✿: Which one act in your muse’s past are they most ashamed of? Which one act in their past are they most proud of?
Ume is ashamed of losing control. She’s proud of what she’s done to protect humans since then.
Nesaku is ashamed that he was so scared of getting close to people that he let himself develop his current memory issues to push people away. He’s proudest of how Futsu turned out.
Zuha is ashamed of leaving Kura on his own, even though Kura told him to. He’s probably most proud of his actions that helped save Zuchi.
■: If one of your muse’s friends was asked to describe them in a handful of words for a profile on a dating site, what would they say?
Ume, as described by Uwo: Stubborn, pretty, conscientious, moral
Nesaku, as described by Ihasaku and Futsu: Gentle, distracted, enthusiastic, quiet
Zuha, as described by Kura and Tsumi: Friendly, intelligent, happy
‽: Who or what, if anything, would your muse die for or otherwise go to extremes for?
Ume: Uwo
Nesaku: Ihasaku and Futsu
Zuha: Kura and Tsumi
♫: What is one thing that your muse thinks they are talented at, but actually aren’t?
Ume is unaware of how bad she is at phrasing herself.
Nesaku is a terrible painter but Futsu doesn’t have the heart to tell him. Ihasaku tells him all the time.
Zuha thinks he’s a better liar than he actually is. Tsumi thinks this is hilarious.
♯: What would be the perfect gift for your muse?
Give Ume a giant paper fan. And a spray bottle.
Nesaku really likes sweets, okay?
Someone give Zuha a day off.
✎: Growing up, did your muse have a teacher or mentor figure? What was their relationship like?
Nope.
Maybe Zuchi? Brief visits and lots of hugs.
None.
✈: Was your muse popular as a child? Did they have many friends, and are they still in touch/still aware of what they are doing with their lives now?
HAHAHAHAHAHA NOPE NOPE AND NOPE
[for Mika, Hi and Nesaku] ⌆ ✢
⌆ for a story about their family/home life [Mika and Hi]
It wasn’t often that Mika thought back on what happened with the other gods of Tamagatahara. She didn’t like to think on it, really, but sometimes it came up on its own. Though many centuries had passed between then and now, sometimes, late at night, she would catch herself crying about it. When she did, she would go outside, taking care not to disturb her brother, and look out into space.
And no matter how quiet she was, at some point, she would feel a gentle weight in her lap, and would look down to see her brother, in wolf form, resting his head there. Hi never spoke during these moments, but he never needed to, not with her.
⌆ for a story about their family/home life [Nesaku]
Nesaku wasn’t sure how to handle this. His brother had gone out for a bit on his own, and now he was back….
With a child in his arms.
“This is Futsu-nushi, Nesaku. He’s my son now.”
Nesaku blinked. Then, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and opened them.
Ihasaku was still standing there, holding the small boy. “Nesaku?”
The boy… Futsu-nushi, Ihasaku had said, right? Futsu-nushi looked back and forth between the two brothers as the awkward silence dragged on.
Then Nesaku smiled. “Your son? So he’s my nephew, huh? That’s great!” He laughed.
Ihasaku smiled back and nodded. “Yup!”
Then Nesaku blinked. “What’s his name again?”
✢ for a good memory that makes them smile [Mika and Hi]
Mika and Hi had been playing in the field near their house, when Hi had stopped and looked up, and a smile grew on his face as he pointed. Mika looked to see what he was pointing at, and a smile appeared on her face as she spotted the hawk circling lower and lower, until it shifted, and their older brother dropped to the ground.
Zuchi stood with a grin, and held his arms out as his siblings ran to give him a hug. “Hey you two! How are you doing?”
Mika spoke for both of them, as she usually did, although this was before Hi stopped talking to anyone else. “We’re doing great, Zuchi-nii! How are you?”
He ruffled their hair, still grinning. “I’m doing great. Dad gave me the day off of training so that I could come visit you guys.”
Mika and Hi exchanged looks at that and then looked up at their brother with pleading eyes as Mika asked him, “Can you show us what he’s been teaching you? Pleeeaaaaaaseeeeee?”
“Well….” Zuchi tried to avoid their gaze, but eventually gave in. “Fine. I guess I can show you a few things.” He smiled as the two bounced with excitement, and gestured for them to step back as he summoned a sword.
Mika and Hi managed to persuade him to continue this for a while, and even when he left, the excitement they felt lasted for the rest of the day.
✢ for a good memory that makes them smile [Nesaku]
Futsu-nushi had been living with them for a while now, but Nesaku was still struggling with remembering his name. Although the young sword god didn’t seem to mind, it still bothered Nesaku. After all, he was his very important nephew, and yet....
So finally, Nesaku decided that he would put all his effort into remembering his nephew’s name. And after some time, finally he felt ready.
Ihasaku usually reminded him every morning about Futsu-nushi’s name, but this morning, Ihasaku was out on a short trip. So Futsu was the one who came in to tell him. But as his nephew opened his mouth, Nesaku cut him off.
“Good morning, Futsu-nushi.”
The look of surprise on Futsu’s face, and the happiness that soon joined it, was worth all the effort Nesaku had put in to remember his name.

Postcard from Heaven || Nesaku
Mikoto sat at a table by the window in the small cafe. He didn't come here very often. It wasn't that the coffee was bad or that it was overly full. No, it was simply too close to close to his hospital which meant he would most likely always see someone from work here. Today though, it seemed like he was lucky. There were only a handful of other people quietly chatting amongst themselves and not paying any attention to customers on other tables.
Tearing his eyes away from the outside world, Mikoto looked back to the postcard on the table in front of him. Such a weird little thing. He had found it the mail the other day and at first had been puzzled by it. Not only that anyone would actually write him such a thing in times like this when it was much more convenient to use a computer. No. The thing that had actually made him wonder what was going on, was the sender. Not that there was much of an address on it anyway, just a name. Research on that guy made it nearly impossible that way. Still, he was curious, asking for a meeting but not stating any reason why. Weird. As far as he could remember he had met that guy only once, but that was a lifetime ago.
Speaking of... Mikoto sighed as he glanced at his phone to check the time. Another minute and the time the other had asked to meet him would have come and gone, but so far no sign of his guest. Five more minutes was it then before he would leave again. He had better things to do than being stood up.
