There are so many hurting here. More even than Haven, than Skyhold, where refugees came and many had died, had lost, had ached inside.
Here there are those that are like that, but for some it goes deeper - they’re hollow inside, or jagged, shards of the self piercing each other and digging into the soul itself.
It’s one of those he’s watching, now, from his spot curled up between the branches of a cherry tree, one hand trailing through the blossoms. This hurt winds around and through, a shallow layer lying (and lying) on top of it, keeping it hidden. Even Cole can’t follow it all the way to its end - it’s too tangled, goes too deep, and he’s afraid of what would happen if he tugged it without asking, without care.
“It wasn’t right,” he says when the man-cat comes into earshot, “what they did to you. I’m sorry. I’m sorry they took a part of you away, and put in a way to make you do what they wanted instead. I saw that happen to someone, once. I think I’m scared it will happen to me.
“Do you want to sit up here?” He pats a space that would fit, his legs dangling in the air. “The tree is stronger than it looks. The ones in charge did something to it, I think, but it doesn’t mind. It likes being strong.”

mercy is no longer a word defined within his language. no, not that of cymraeg nor even english tongue, but rather the language which carries whatever brand of morality you wish to suppose he possesses. the language of life, thus the way he chooses to exist and carry himself. mercy is meaningless. so when nessus happens upon the god of spring, seemingly clutching the life of an innocent spiralian native about the throat, he feels no remorse for having been caught. he does, however, release the being in shock, prompting the man to fall upon his back before scrambling away much like an animal released from a hunter’s trap.
“ ah... you interrupted me. “

Taako tugs his hat off and bends his head to allow the other to set the flower crown on it with a wide grin. “I mean, of course I should be adored...”He pulls out his phone, fiddling with it for a second before he holds it up and goes over to stand next to the cat boy and grins. “Selfie time!”
🌸
He looks up, at the crown being tossed over his horn like a child playing ring toss. He sighs.
The flowers begin withering.

“Still on the same old story, huh?” Hands in his jacket’s pockets, he stands not but a few feet from the other, shoulders turned up in an amused demeanor. “And I thought you were giving up the addiction to your kleptomania. Looks like I was wrong.” His head tilts slightly forward, using his nose to point to an innocent resident, who doesn’t even notice that their pockets were checked and continues to churn a concrete mixture. “Anything to say for yourself?”
