nestfell: vulturine death-priestess who was banished from her library-temple following her decision to save an ancient tome over her own daughter’s life during a natural disaster. speaks a dozen languages, collects books, and makes a living cleaning up crime scenes by eating the murdered bodies. illegal immigrant to a distant planet. wears her daughter’s skull as a sort of brooch. anxious and brilliant, though somewhat morally askew.
augury down: malkavian child-vampire with a ghouled tiger for a pet. spent time in an insane asylum during the victorian era. unpredictable, chaotic, psychotic in the medical sense of the word. uses her childlike appearance to lure in and brutally murder pedophiles. giggles often and is generally unnerving to be around.
val drefan: homeless teen turned superhero. started living on the streets at age 14 with their triplet, flare, following the murder of their third sibling at the hands of their religious fundamentalist parents. now works as a government-sponsored crime-fighter and generates income through their twitch gaming channel. enjoys trespassing, shoplifting, and other minor crimes. memelord, mall goth, and homestuck fan. they’re a goofy teenager with a weird sense of humor but they have a good heart and they’re really trying to do good.
rat boy stinky bastard man: he’s just........ the worst. 42 year old greasy man with a mullet. hits on anything that moves and calls everyone “honeybunny”. pretends to be a god (gods exist as physical entities in this ‘verse) for free drinks but is really just moderately good at card tricks. has an estranged ex-wife and a young son named rat boy jr., who he never pays child support for. he’s rat boy stinky bastard man i don’t know what else you want from me
4: what were the conditions surrounding their formative years?
nestfell grew up in a temple that was half-library, half-ossuary, in a culture that valued knowledge and history above all else. her species doesn’t really have family units, so she was raised communally by several dozen scholar-priests. the question of who her “real” family was is irrelevant; she doesn’t even have a concept of family.
as a result of this upbringing, she has an underdeveloped sense of social relationships, a comfortable familiarity with death, and an appreciation for quiet spaces with lots of history.
7. is there anyone they’d die for? kill for?
not really! she’s a loner.
17. if they were in possession of a trio of wishes, what would their three wishes be?
to go back in time and prevent the fire that destroyed her temple, the fire which forced her to choose between saving a shelf of sacred texts or a child (she chose the texts)
to have access to every book ever written and the time to read them
to find some GODDAMN armor that fits her bizarre dinosaur-esque body
3. What is the worst pain they’ve ever experienced?
the guilt following the death of her daughter and her expulsion from the library of bones, where she lived as a death-priestess. it was physically debilitating. like someone had shoved their filthy fist into her core and pulled out handfuls of organs.
6. What is something that never fails to make them feel sick?
she’s a delicate anxiety bird and easily sickened, which is ironic as her primary livelihood is cleaning up crime scenes by eating the mangled corpses. she gets very nauseated when anxious, and lots of things make her anxious. crowds, eye contact, social interaction in general, sensory overload, thunder, heights, deep water, death…
she also vomits very easily, being a vulturine species. puke all over the goddamn place.
9. What is their greatest physical weakness?
she’s clumsy as hell. also, because she’s a theropod in a world populated by humanoids, it’s hard to find clothing or furniture she can actually use.
12. Have they ever done something illegal? What was it?
as previously mentioned, her primary source of income is helping to cover up murders by eating the evidence. she doesn’t have much respect for the law in general, as she believes the dominant species on her current planet are foolish and backwards and therefore any laws they create will be foolish and backwards.
she’s also technically an illegal immigrant!
15. Who do they hate the most?
herself.
18. Is there a certain flavor that disgusts them?
cooked or flavored food in general is gross to her! her ideal meal is slightly putrefied carrion.
21. What is something that causes them great anxiety?
existing, not existing, being around people, not being around people. she’s a being of constant fear.
24. Do they fear the possibility of being assaulted/abused/raped?
i don’t think it’s ever really crossed her mind, to be honest. the culture she grew up in was vastly different from ours, and abuse/rape was virtually nonexistent. i’m not sure that she even knows what it is.
27. How many times have they been in the hospital?
never! her home planet doesn’t really have hospitals, and even if they did, she’s never been gravely injured or seriously ill.
30. Have they ever been bullied?
nope! her birthplace was a very tight-knit, pacifistic community where bullying would absolutely not be tolerated, and since leaving she hasn’t really had much significant contact with other sentient beings.
33. Have they ever been in a relationship that didn’t work out so well?
she was a teen mom, but the vulturaptor (her species name– creative, i know) who knocked her up was actually a delightful person and they parted on good terms and stayed friends. outside of that relationship, she hasn’t dated.
36. Are they in control of their emotions, or are their emotions in control of them?
her emotions are definitely in control of her. she’s ruled primarily by her guilt and fear.
39. Have they ever been accused of something they didn’t do?
murdering her daughter.
42. Are they comfortable with where they are in life?
she’s not exactly comfortable, but she’s happier than she’s been in a long time. doing quests with the adventuring party mitigates her soul-crushing loneliness, and being able to help them on their way quells her guilt and shame over her existence. makes her feel like she’s worth something.
45. What is the emotion they most commonly experience?
Anxiety™
48. Is there anyone that they would willingly kill?
no one specifically, but she has no qualms about killing. she comes from a death-positive culture and doesn’t see death as a negative thing, or even as an end.
she wouldn’t kill a child, though. creatures should have a chance to mature before their souls are reaped.
