When I saw this caterpillar, I scooped him up for Ava, unaware of the magic about to take place that night! I had no idea they would burrow into wood to make their cocoon like that. We learn this is the American Dagger Moth and he loves the leaves of several types of trees. Luckily I used the jar and didn’t pick him up with my hands because they do sting.
