Nether Wart
trust me WE are eating netherwart (confirmed to literally be poison btw) WE are all eating a netherwart pie with blue
If we die I blame it on you
Could you make netherwart into a pony?
part 2 of turning minecraft items into ponies: nether wart!
this one was sooo fun to design!!!! i'm thinking that the items primarily used for enchanting & potions will be made into unicorns. :-)
feel free to send me an ask for which one i do next!!
Decided to make something for myself in case any future art projects come up in something Minecraft, as well as for my dear friend OpenFireBug of Newgrounds since she likes those silly stick fellas of Mr. Becker so much. How does that Blue one even begin to choke one of these things down?! Bonus: the photoshop art result separated from the ref sheet. The Soulsand freaks me out a little bit but I put all my effort into the cut Nether Wart, so glad it was just a blurred background thing on more than one level.
Nether & Warped Wart Blocks
The "wart" blocks in Minecraft are interesting in that they basically don't have a ton of straight forward use. Compacting Nether Wart into a Block of Nether Wart doesn't let you uncraft it unlike other compacted blocks, and Warped Wart Block doesn't even have a Warped Wart item assigned to it, as it only exists for the fungi in the Nether. I wanted to add some more decorative blocks so you can do something with all the foliage. Cut Wart, Wart Bricks, and Mosiac Wart blocks were just some of the ideas I came up with.
Potion Ingredients
nether warts
H*ck yeah, something weird to lick.
First off: they're a kind of mushroom, I think. They only grow in soul sand, implying that they are helping the decay process. This will instantly make them lose points because mushrooms are gross (texture wise)
Their growing in soul soil also means that they can only be found in the nether - specifically, nether fortresses. That means their danger will be a little higher.
Finally, flavor:
They've got to taste kinda weird, right? I always imagined, like, a mixture of citric acid, raw beef, and a hint of brimstone. Not outright terrible, but not great.
Flavor: 4 / 10
Texture: 0 / 10 mushrooms bad
Danger: 5 / 10
Thanks for the ask! I really love getting suggestions from weird objects like this - things like wood and stone variants are a bit harder, requiring me to do research and, occasionally, finding a similar real-world object to lick.
These weird things, like Nether Wart or Redstone (5, 6, 9) are a lot more fun to do, creativity wise.
