"I apologize for leaving so suddenly, Your Majesty. I hope I didn't cause undue worry."
( neverbotheredbycold )
a bow from the tall young man, arm slightly wrapping around his waist as he does so. “—- your majesty.”
Hans had been fretting over the visit to Arendelle for some time. There was no question of his charisma or etiquette, and with the title of Prince, he was already higher in standing than many of the other guests, putting him on steadier footing. However, there were far too many smaller variables that, if not worked in his own favor, could be the downfall of his plan. Perhaps his intensive study of Arendelle's customs hadn't been intensive enough; perhaps neither Queen nor Princess would be beguiled enough by his charms to be coerced into marriage.
The ship stayed afloat on the voyage there, however, so he supposed he's have to begin with that.
Now that he was in Arendelle, however, Hans found the nagging worries left in the back of his mind disappearing one by one. In fact, the worst difficulty of the entire endeavour was keeping from laughter at how easily entranced those he met here were. A kind word, a bright smile, and they were taken in by gallant and dashing Prince Hans of the Southern Isles. Gaining trust took him only a smile; a word and they were enraptured. It was little wonder those smiles began to edge towards the smirking side-- just the tiniest bit.
The Palace of Arendelle was a thing of beauty. Towers soared high against the sky; the turreted wall surrounding the castle kept any and all unwanted visitors out. Today, however, the perpetually closed gates, tall and foreboding, stood open. Open to allow in the world. Open to allow all in to see the magnificence of Arendelle's seat of power, to finally allow a glimpse at the mysterious Queen as her coronation day came- Elsa. Open doors to let in the light.
Open doors, however, have their risks; as you open the door to let in the light, you may allow in the dark as well. And an open door can hold a different meaning when viewed from a different perspective. While this open door may be, for one, thrown wide to f r e e d o m, merriment, celebration--
----for another, it is an open door to p o w e r.
To Hans, it was an open door to a castle that was, for all practical purposes, already his.
The coronation itself provided him ample time to study Arendelle's cool and distant new queen. Elsa was a perfect picture of regal grace; her steps echo confidently as she walks, the purple of her cape trailed behind her like a silken river, she hadn't a hair out of place--
----but there was f e a r in her eyes--
------and her hands shook ever so slightly when she held the scepter and orb.
{ And she had the same cold beauty as ice, as fresh-fallen snow, but Hans didn't think about that. Not a bit; not at all. Mind ever on the mission, of course. Obviously. }
Princess Anna might have been easier to trap, but something drew Hans to Elsa of Arendelle; he rationalized it as her queenly status making his obtainment of power all the easier, and left it at that.
The party was a fast-moving blur of color and light and sound Hans made himself the center of. The world rotated around him and his coiffured hair and his brilliant white smile. He spoke and engaged and socialized-- leaving all who spoke to him with a grin on their face and a revived belief in chivalry-- but his true goal, the entirety of the night, was the Queen.
His opportunity came when Elsa removed herself from the main room of the party, most likely for a break from the noise. Hans watched as she retreated into a hall and followed as she went, using the excuse that he, too, needed a reprieve to make his escape.
His footsteps were deliberately loud as he entered the hall, meant to alert Elsa of his presence immediately.
Then, a series of careful steps:
{ Widen eyes to saucers, raise eyebrows, let mouth fall open with a quick intake of breath. Take a nervous step backwards, furrow eyebrows with concern. Awkwardly pull mouth shut as if you've just realized it's hanging open, bite lip worriedly. Quick, scrambling bow as if you've just remembered your manners. Lopsided, apologetic smile as words are spoken. }
"I am so, so terribly sorry, my lady. I didn't mean-- I didn't know-- I didn't realize that--
----That you were in here. Ah, I should go; I don't want to be a bother. I'm so-- I'm so sorry."
□■□ "Why does snow have to be s-so c-cold?"

❛ lady fa, that’s what you’ve said of the last ten suitors. i have to marry one of them ❜
"I know, I know- but I believe in going with my gut."
"If I had to pick one for you... I would say the third one. He wasn't off as much as he was just... I don't know the word."
'kiss me quick' bc i can
7. Nose
His actions were quick because the male knew that if the Queen had a hint of what his intentions were, she would react against him. He leaned forward quickly and placed a kiss on the tip of her nose. Already knowing that she would question him, he began to explain himself. "I know that you are the Ice Queen, but I could still see that your nose needed to be warmed up, so I thought that I might help you out."
