Happy birthday to me! ❤️

any russian rock recs bestie 👀
uhhh i'm sorryyy for taking so long to answer, i wanted to do this ask justice and then i forgor
i don't feel like going through all the fuss of adding youtube links but you can just copy the names and put them in the search bar and there'll most likely be a music vid. not sure if all of them will be on spotify tho, and i can't even look em up there sorry
okay! here we go!
my absolute faves:
LOUNA
hard rock, female vocals, good lyrics if you don't listen too hard to their recent more political stuff.
my faves:
incredible female vocals, pretty mediocre male vocals but thankfully not a lot of those. the female singer, Нуки (Nuki), also has a solo project, i'll list a couple of her songs here too
Heavy/power metal with classic fantasy themes, one of the giants of the genre in the country
4. Neverlove
They started out doing satirical funny songs and then shifted into heavy and very obscene "bad boy" type music. it fucks tho
the funny era:
Секс-инструктор из НАТО (the funniest shit in the world, the official music vid has sadly been deleted off youtube to avoid "extremism" charges but it has been uploaded unofficially so have at it) Без резинки Лисий-кисий Тяночка Альтушка Милфхантер
the badass era:
basically the whole ANTIHERO album but my faves off it are:
Королева Самая дрянная Антигерой
5. Green Apelsin
folkish indieish one-person project, incredible female vocals too
ohh boy i'm so insane about them. they do folkish metal hugely inspired by fairy tales and fantasy in general. literally almost every song is a banger, but here are a chosen few:
Ведьмина дочь (look up the lyrics, it will make the song so much better to you) Эльфийский кулон Невеста Лешего Кай Принцесса и Маг Дочь зла Слуга зла (the sorta elabortion on the previous song, released just recently. makes me gnaw on my own flesh every time i listen to it) Щелкунчик Девочка со спичками Питер Пэн Дитя Луны
7. LITHIUM
more hit and miss for me, but the ones that hit hit hard. can't put a finger on the genre, indie rock with folk undertones maybe? love the vocals too
8. LASCALA
hard rock, female vocals, everything the way i love it
heavy metal, reallyyyy high quality female vocals
admittedly, the most popular russian punk rock band should be higher on this list, but i just can't get into them as hard as i would like. but there are songs which are essential to the knowledge of russian culture:
Кукла колдуна (it's so embedded in the culture they put it on in karaoke. considering the aversion pop culture has to rock, that means something) Лесник Проклятый старый дом Ром Мертвый анархист Ели мясо мужики Хороший пират - мертвый пират
personal recommendation from my husband, who is a huge fan: the entirety of
they built their image on songs that are each a little fantasy tale, not necessarily with a good ending. so even if you don't like the music, they are just interesting to listen to know what happens. if you look em up on youtube you might come across modern music videos - they are from a recent show made based on their history, but i do recommend just finding a lyrics video with the original tune instead. im pretty sure they are on spotify tho
11. Ария
another pillar of russian power/heavy metal, think russian iron maiden. again, i should get to know them better than i do now, but here are some songs i like:
Кровь королей Штиль Беспечный ангел Осколок льда
12. Tracktor Bowling
hard rock, female vocals, you know the drill. if you liked louna or слот, you'll probably like this
Снег (man the entirety of my winter of 2024 is in that song) Натрон Черта Ничья Время
folk. that's all i can say. they also made the soundtrack to the game LIZARDS MUST DIE 2, which is another can of worms i will delve into at some point. one of the members streams on twitch under the name koshkamoroshka, you might like to check her out
Miscellaneous bands i didn't get into but like a couple of their songs
Kassidy
Elena Gazaeva (man this one only has one song on her page and i've never felt more disappointed) Lilith
Natural Spirit Kolybelnaya
Би-2 (another huge pop culture band i never got into) Бог проклятых
Beastiar
aaaaand here you go. i remember making a similar post a couple years back and it only had like 5 bands on the list so i can safely claim i have significantly broadened my horizons. hopefully some of you will actually check these out because you're missing out on so much good music purely due to language and cultural barrier
Bro, are you okay? Like listen its cool if not, it's just that you've been listening to the acoustic version of Nicotine by NEVERLOVE for like. An hour.
NEVERLOVE
