Have you ever watched Disney’s Robin Hood? If you have, you’ve watched this Link’s adventure, albeit in anthropomorphic animal form.
Link is a trickster of epic proportions. He’s willing to do just about anything to carry out a trick on those he fights against. He loves the people he’s met, from his hometown of Locksley to Nottingham, and does what he can to help them survive against the Sheriff of Nottingham and the wretched Prince John, who do everything in their power to wring every last rupee from the people.
He is HOPELESS for Maid Marian. He’s usually not terrible at cooking, but if he’s talking/thinking about Marian, even after their marriage, all bets are off. It’s safer to eat some raw veggies and jerky than to eat whatever burnt mass is coming out of that pot.
Link is The Drama. He is The Bit. If there's a bit to be done, he will most likely commit to it. His best buddy, Little John (who may or may not be Gerudo), tries his best to keep him from going too over-the-top, but sometimes over-the-top is what must be done, in which case, Little John jumps right into it alongside him. He's also pretty athletic—have you seen Robin in the movie? Cartwheels galore!
Robin Hood is an alias that Link came up with, and because he is himself, he came up with a whole backstory for it which is based on no facts except for where Robin Hood is from, since faking an accent All The Time would just be exhausting. What a theater kid. Theater Man of Epic Proportions. He might've been a poet or playwright at some point before everything went downhill...
This is Datalink, but you can call him Link! He’s an Autobot with a motorcycle alt-mode. He was an archivist before the War for Cybertron, but when the war began, he became a reconnaissance agent for the Autobots. I don’t have much else for his life on Cybertron, but he is in the Aligned Continuity (Transformers: Prime, Robots in Disguise 2015, Rescue Bots, various video games, etc).
When the Cybertronians all left Cybertron in search of Energon reserves and whatnot, Link ended up on Himekawa—a world without much in the way of technology. He met a Hylian girl named Zelda and, though she was scared of him at first, they quickly became friends.
Link is a bit reckless with a penchant for daredevil tricks. He loves taking his friends for rides and playing pranks on them as well. His usual brand of pranks is firmly in the 'fun and friendly' category, but if he's given a job with, say, Jazz, who is a saboteur, he lets himself get creative. All in all, Link is a fun guy to be around, but he might not be as careful as he should be in terms of 'robots in disguise'.
I don't really have anything else on him (at least right now), but I hope you guys have enjoyed him!
Have you ever seen a Scooby-Doo episode/movie? If so, you’ve witnessed some of the craziness that Link Jones has dealt with. Yep, that’s right. He’s based on our favorite trap enthusiast and mystery-solving teen: Fred Jones! He’s mostly based off of Mystery Inc. Fred, but just about anything Fred (except for the abomination which shall not be named Velma) is accurate. Does he have a van called the Mystery Machine? Yup. Does he drive around looking for mysteries to solve? You bet your ascot. He is so smart when it comes to problem solving and setting up traps and various survival skills, but put him in other, less life-and-death scenarios and he’s… a bit awkward, to say the least. He’s a himbo ALL the way.
My man is so autistic it’s not even funny. He’s been peer-reviewed by a genuine autistic person (SCP), so I’d say it’s official.
He’s excitable, loves his friends and van, loves traps (especially nets), and has gone to more camps for incredibly niche skills and/or activities than most people have even heard of.
His best friends are Zelda Blake, Impa Dinkley, Ganondorf "Shaggy" Rogers, and Shaggy's talking pet pony, Epona. They all work together to solve the various mysteries that plague their hometown of Crystal Cove and other places, and boy, do they have some crazy stories!
Link is half-Sheikah. His mother is a Sheikah from Kakariko while his father was a Hylian Knight. Due to his father’s death not long after his birth, Link was raised among the Sheikah. He spent a long time training to be skilled enough to be able to become a bodyguard for the Royal Family, as he feels that, with both sides of his ancestry, it is doubly his duty to protect the Royal Family. He even wears a traditional Sheikah uniform in non-traditional colors to reflect both sides of his heritage.
I don’t have a ton for his game beyond that, but I do know that he has a tattoo over his eye that lets him basically be a human Mask/Lens of Truth. He can tell if you’re lying (don’t ask me the mechanics, he just does).
Link is honest—he doesn’t like lying. He would rather tell the truth when he can, but he does know how to obfuscate rather well when need be.
He’s actually pretty easily flustered. He can hide it alright while he’s on-duty most of the time, but if he’s totally relaxed and at ease, you could fluster him by genuinely complimenting his posture or something. Something inconsequential that wouldn’t seem like the kind of thing to fluster a guy.
He learned how to cook and make potions at his mother’s knee, as she’s A: one of the few potion makers in Kakariko Village who doesn’t only specialize in stealth potions or shadow potions or poisons, and B: she’s a decent cook and knows that, at some point in his life, Link would need to know how to cook.
Link actually enjoys cooking with his mother because it’s one of the ways they spend quality time together, and since she always made his time in the kitchen fun as a child, it never really stopped being fun for him. He likes to experiment with flavors, so he’ll sometimes change an ingredient here or add an ingredient there, for better or worse.
This is Padawan Link Faronishe (from the planet Himekawa) of the Jedi Order! Yep, you read that right! Link is in Star Wars now! Her master is, of course, one Obi-Wan Kenobi.
She became Obi-Wan’s Padawan at the same time that Ahsoka became Anakin’s Padawan—at the Battle of Christophsis. Unfortunately, I haven’t thought a ton on her story beyond that and the fact that the Jedi Master who brought her to the Order is a legit dragon named Tapa Nor (if I’ve stolen that name on accident, I’ve forgotten). I know that she, at some point during the Clone Wars, has her “saving Hyrule” adventure and all that jazz, but what all happens during that adventure is a bit of a mystery (at least for now).
Link is a serious young lady, but she does know how to let loose (she probably wouldn’t survive the clones if she couldn’t, let’s be real). Don’t worry, she fits in with the Disaster Lineage just fine. She enjoys training with Obi-Wan and learning various languages, especially those of her homeworld, which has definitely helped her in regards to diplomacy and having to deal with other cultures alongside her master. She’s good friends with Ahsoka (at this point, they’re basically Jedi-related, right?) and the clones of the 212th and 501st divisions (she knows most of, if not all of their names, and the ones she doesn’t are either new or haven’t gotten a name yet). She’s very good with names and remembering things that people have said in regards to needs and desires, which definitely helped her during her nebulous (pun unintended but hilarious) adventure on Himekawa.
Her first lightsaber was a bright green, but right before her adventures on Himekawa, it was destroyed. Somewhere in the last half of her adventure, she found what remained of the Master Sword: a purple-blue hilt shaped like wings with a kyber crystal embedded in it. Taking the crystal, Link made a new lightsaber, the Master Saber, which was colored blue-green.
So, if you’ve ever read the Unicorns of Balinor series by Mary Stanton, then you know roughly what this Hero’s adventure is like, since he’s taking Ari’s place in the story (Sorry, Horseland fans, this isn’t Horseland).
In case you haven't, here's a rough run-through of the basics: Link wakes up in a place called Hyrule in a Healer's hut with two very broken legs and scattered memories but nothing really solid. Eventually goes to live with his foster parents on a horse farm/ranch where he finds his horse, Chase, who was also injured. Time passes, Link heals, but his memories are still shot. Eventually, and I'm being vague in case anyone wants to read the books and not be spoiled (despite the fact they've been around since the late 90s), stuff happens and Link and Chase wind up in the land of Balinor alongside a brat and Link's loyal pet rabbit, Ravi. Stuff happens very much and it turns out that Link is the Prince of Balinor and that Chase is actually a unicorn known as The Sunchaser and they have a bond that allows all the animals in Balinor to talk, and then Link and company end up stopping the great evil who was threatening the land of Balinor.
Link is fiercely loyal to Chase and his friends. He may only be thirteen and make some dumb decisions, but he does his best to resolve what problems he might cause. He's caring and compassionate, and when he sees someone suffering, he's determined to help how he can, though there's at least one time where he has to trust that someone he cares about will be taken care of without him being around. He's still looking for his parents and siblings, who were captured during the events that left him with amnesia, and he continues to have hope that he will find them.
Link’s story begins in the wastes of the Gerudo Desert. He was found abandoned as a baby by Koume and Kotake, who decided that, since there was no Ganondorf, they would raise this baby boy in his place.
This was only the beginning of his woes.
(His woes are many and possibly upsetting to real life people, so if you think you will be upset by non-graphic child abuse and torture, I'd suggest not looking below the cut)
He grew up quickly, being trained in swordplay by various Gerudo guards, thievery by Gerudo raiders, and in matters of state and in dark magic by Koume and Kotake. If he failed or did poorly in a lesson, he was punished harshly, with food being withheld being one of the lighter punishments. He frequently tried to avoid his lessons in dark magic altogether, but the punishments for that were even harsher, more akin to torture, so he learned.
Once he was older, around thirteen, he began trying to escape the Gerudo Palace. He knew that he was not yet strong enough to escape the Desert in its entirety, but he could at least sneak out of his gilded cage for a short time and see the people he was being raised to rule. So he put on disguises and ventured out among those he’d been raised to call his people and met some who were kind to him, a very rare thing in the Gerudo Palace. Most Gerudo were able to identify him as their Prince rather quickly, but those who were kind to him decided to let him enjoy his anonymity. Eventually, he was discovered by guards who were loyal to Koume and Kotake and marched back into the palace, but he’d found a glimmer of hope—a chance at freedom.
A few years passed and Link began having dreams of a young woman. She spoke to him frequently, telling him he was something known as a dream-walker and that she needed his help. So, once he woke up, he got straight to work on escaping.
Over the years since his first escape attempt, he’d managed to escape several more times, with each time lasting longer than the last. This time would be different; he couldn’t just hide out in an ally’s house or store for a few hours—he had to escape Gerudo Town as a whole and not be found. If he was found outside the town, the punishment would be severe, and he wouldn’t be able to help the young woman in his dreams.
Eventually, with the help of his allies in Gerudo Town, he was able to escape the desert and make it to the kingdom of Hyrule. From there, he did his best to hide the fact that he was Gerudo, which was helped by the fact that he spoke Hylian (due to political studies) and the fact that he’d gotten quite good at disguising himself.
Soon, he found himself on a small farm where the young woman lived. Her name was Poppy, and her father was known as the Dream Maker. There, he is told that, as a dream-walker, he can move beyond the bounds of his own dreams and visit those of others.
Unfortunately, I don't have much else at this time. I know that he saves Poppy and Zelda (who shows up at some point during the stuff I don't know about), and I know that he definitely develops a crush on Poppy, but beyond doing everything in his power to avoid being taken back to Gerudo Town (even after everything's all said and done), I've got nothing for the rest of his story.
As for Link's personality, he's... very resistant to authority. He's stubborn and he will resist if he doesn't want to do something, especially A: if it's something he doesn't agree with, and B: once he finally unlearns what Koume and Kotake taught him from infancy. He is, however, a kind young man and actually loves the people of Gerudo Town. Who knows, maybe, once Koume, Kotake, and their followers are dead and gone, he might take the throne he had thrust upon him...
