"... ancient days of sorrow ... ancient days of pain - heartaches from the past slowly begin to wane (from gleaming granules)" - Muse, Enigmatic Evolution Dandelion clocks tell us it is time to let it go #PEI #neverstopbeingatourist #nevergoinghome
The shoreline of North Cape is cluttered with stacks of red sandstone gazing into the sea, like a forgotten graveyard for infatuation and ambition that visitors had abandoned here. I built a memorial to my own heart as well, and left some sea flowers on its grave. When we travel, perhaps we should always endeavor to lose some of the worst of ourselves and bring back some of the best of the places we visit. #neverstopbeingatourist #oceancalling #PEI #nevergoinghome
There is no freedom quite like an empty expanse of endless beach, with the waves drumming against the shore and the sand singing beneath your feet #nevergoinghome #neverstopbeingatourist #PEI #oceancalling
"The sea, once it casts it's spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever" - Jacques Yves Cousteau The red sand and blue waters and gray skies of Cavendish Beach where I've lost (what's left of) my heart #neverstopbeingatourist #PEI #oceancalling
"I fell in love with the Island visiting Dutch friends in lower Belfast. In fact they're Canadians now. The velvet air took me by surprise in Halifax. As did the gentleness of the people. On the Island this appeared to double. Never thought of a place in your part of the world - as relaxing; a place where people have time - to tell stories about ancestors, about the effect - of a full moon on the snow. Time to talk about - everyday life as if it were grand. To weave on winter nights. In fact, I realized, this boils down to cherishing life and connecting ..." - Inge from Amsterdam #thekindnessofstrangers #PEI #neverstopbeingatourist (at Charlottetown, PEI)
"... the Lake of Shining Waters was blue - blue - blue; not the changeful blue of spring, nor the pale azure of summer, but a clear, steadfast, serene blue, as if the water were past all modes and tenses of emotion and had settled down to a tranquility unbroken by fickle dreams" - L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables We found our own (river) of shining waters walking and hitchhiking our way north to Brackley Beach 🏖 There is nothing quite like not exactly knowing where you're going or if you're even going to get there #neverstopbeingatourist #PEI #thekindnessofstrangers #flyingfree
