New Glarus Brewing Company Two Women, 12 oz., 5% ABV. Many thanks to my friend and coworker who picked up a sampler pack of Wisconsin joy for me over the holidays.
I am always quick to try something from other parts of the country that I can't get locally. New Glarus can be arguably described as one of the preeminent examples of a regional brewery. They specialize in brewing from locally sourced ingredients wherever available and only (officially) ship in state (Wisconsin). I had to try this one when the chance came up.
Fat Squirrel Ale - New Glarus Brewing
This one pours out a hazy dark brown with a tall tan head that left spotty lacing. It has notes of hazelnut, caramel, pecan, light brown sugar, and fresh baked dark bread. It has a thin, lighter mouth feel with a clean somewhat sweet finish. This a great example of a nice solid Brown Ale. It is very drinkable and very likable. I suspect that it is very fun on draught at any of the local watering holes. If I get a chance at another one of these I will be happy to take it.
