Apollo is a wild card when it comes to any kind of relationship, intimate or not - I know, I say that about every villager, but Apollo is no exception. In a casual friendship or even something beyond that he will call you Kiddo, and nothing can really change that - it's a force of habit. Along with this, though, will come the occasional 'Squirt' or maybe even 'Sprout.'
Being on good terms with Apollo is beneficial regardless of circumstances, as he, like most cranky villagers, tends to be protective, Apollo himself being maybe even moreso than most. He would absolutely be the type to puff out his chest and stand tall beside you, this being even more exaggerated when someone sketchy is conversing with you. He's a silent protector, though like any cranky villager he would rather read his diary aloud in a full plaza than admit it, least of all to you.
Apollo is initially a tough nut to crack, and comes off as cold until you really start forcing him out of his shell. The easiest way to do this is to tag along with him during his nighttime walks - which he takes every night for a considerable amount of time. Talk about whatever, he doesn't care - he's a great listener, and pays attention even if he looks almost annoyed by your presence. Don't get too used to that sour expression, though - it won't last.
Apollo is a great friend, but how would he be as a potential love interest? Very blunt, it turns out. You wouldn't even have noticed that he had caught feelings for you - his longing gaze was only on you when he was positive you were looking away. During one of his nighttime walks, he'd offhandedly mention something super serious about it, that would most certainly catch you off-guard, whether it be an 'I love you' or something so genuine as a 'I'd take a bullet for you, you know.'
Apollo doesn't exactly flaunt his relationship, so expect any sort of PDA to be met with a grumble and a reluctant grab for your hand at first - but he'll get used to it soon enough. In private, though, he isn't so shy, and he won't hesitate to let you know when he's seeking affection. In fact, he doesn't much tend to ask at all, and you could be minding your business at any time and he'd have his head resting atop yours and arms slung around you before you could blink an eye.
Suffice to say, of course, Apollo isn't exactly clingy, in fact, his touch is a bit loose, but when he's asleep he'll have you pulled to him in a tight hug, his beak buried in your hair/shoulder and breathing heavy. He is a big spoon, and won't take no for an answer when it comes to such - he isn't exactly a small animal, either, so you're out of luck if you wanted assertion in that area.
Apollo tends to be a lot more open around you, and eventually stops being embarrassed altogether - he doesn't see cheesy little things like you showering him in little kisses or clinging to him as embarrassing - he doesn't have a reason to. He loves you, and you love him; so what if you want to show it? Be as open as you like in conversation with him, even if it's in awkward ways. There are no awkward feelings on his end, he doesn't mind delving into odd topics.
Apollo likes spending time with his S/O when he can - particularly, he likes napping with them. Considering he doesn't go to bed until the early hours of the morning at the latest, he is never opposed to some extra sleep, and he thinks you overwork yourself. At any time he'll call you over and the two of you will cozy up just about anywhere. Under a tree, on a bench, in a field - you name it, he isn't shy. The rest of your residents can't exactly ignore it, though; your relationship is seen as 'cute', and Apollo couldn't really care less.
Apollo loves and respects you no matter what your personality is like, so don't you worry! <3
