Different style and texture of the map
Though it does give a feel of DOTA, some believe that it makes the champions seem out of place. Especially old one that have not been visually updated and still walk around with pizza feet.
Thinking that Riot should focus on updating champions more than the map itself
Because, as I said, their are still some old champions that need to be visually updated. Not a complete makeover like Siver, Twitch, or Karthus, but rather texture and color wise. Smooth out the rough edges and smoother walking animations
Should be focusing more on their Lore
Perhaps their idea of focusing on the Lore includes updating the map, but all we might get is some interactions with the shopkeeper much like they did in the Howling Abyss. Riot has some plot holes and questions unanswered that makes some feel as if they are still dancing around the issue.

Now, the positives of course overfill the negatives. It may look different and people don't just easily accept change with a blink of an eye, but it certainly does have potential.
Jungle camp/monsters reworks and animation
From what we can see so far, the red Lizard Elder has been replaced as well as the Wight. Though it is somewhat sad to see, at least their replacements are something more fitting to the area. The frog replacing the Wight already seems to be a better fit within the jungle of Summoners Rift. Perhaps they are taking out the Wraith camps as well.
The rework makes them look 100x better. Especially the Golem, the Wolves and the Dragon since those are the only ones we can compare to the old models. The animation is incredible and more responsive than the old monsters. Though the onld ones did make a sound and a small gesture whenever you got too close, these are on another level. Like you don't wanna get too close 'cause they might actually attack you without provoking them. And the spawns aren't just them appearing out of thin air. Especially the dragon's.
They stayed true into keeping the jungle and the lanes the same without deciding to "spice" things up in adding an extra turn or removing a certain pathway
Riot is trying to better improve the game
Its true that we should be thankful Riot is updating the game as best as they could instead of simple champ releases and removing another bush point. And while new MOBA games come out, of course Riots gotta step up their game and just say out with the old and in with the new to possible attract new players with their improved graphics.
New champions fit in more.
Because of the fact that new Champions come in regularly, of course the style of them will have to be matching with the world around them. Making them pop out more. It's basically a way to ensure new champs are also a high priority to Riot as always.
In the end, we are all eager to see how the finished product will look and affect the feeling of playing. It's safe to say we are all excited. Just glad to see something is being done for our enjoyment.
