well, I can now login on this thing. And I’m being reminded every minute why I’d been using Android for the last 10 years (at least).
The keyboard layout sucks, the gestures navigation without a back button were part of why I jumped ship in the first place, and customization is a joke.
But the phone itself is solid. I could use this thing to assault someone. That hasn’t been true since the ancient Motorola brick days (pre Nokia). I now have a real fear of dropping the iPhone on my foot and breaking a toe.
now I just need to figure out how to move my files over. The Move to iOS app sucks and is almost designed to discourage one from switching. I apparently had to use that before I set up anything (like changing the 30 sec lockscreen timeout). One I did that, the app is useless and can only be used to move files if I reset the damn phone. C’mon, even Goggle quit that shit over 5 years ago.
The whole point of having flash drives and SSDs is to be able to back up and load files without doing a the whole “sync with your computer” kabuki dance. Then again, I haven’t poked at backup functions here. Apple's habit of “managing” your file database was the number 1 reason I quit dealing with Apple.
So why’d I switch? Because I’ve had 2 Pixels in a row fall apart, they’re now more expensive than the flagship iPhone, and Google is about to disallow side loading and ad block. So unless I buy a new one and load it with Graphene OS, Google is marginally more evil. But damn, iOS is stupid.
