Yngve & The Innocent Release New Single
Yngve & The Innocent
You’ll Be Mine - Single
(A: You’ll Be Mine, B: Weight Of Your Finger)
UK Release: 09/04/2011
"Definitely an act to watch for" - Acoustic Magazine
* * * * (4 stars) - "brilliant in their own right, unique, distinct and uplifting" - Artrocker "You heard them here first" - The Word Magazine (featured 'Yngve & The Innocent' on their March 2011 Cover CD) "Deceptively Infectious" - Steve Lamacq BBC Radio 2
Yngve & The Innocent return from recording their new album and a sold out European tour with new single, You’ll Be Mine, a stomping alt-country tune, full of life and regret. The b-side Weight Of Your Finger is a more sombre affair and is available for your readers to download for free! Both tracks build upon the traditions of The Band, Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, marrying great Americana with Folk and Blues. Their previous releases have gained plaudits across national press and radio in the UK, Ireland and Germany over the past 12 months. You’ll Be Mine has been a long time live favourite of fans and was one of the first songs written by Yngve with 'The Innocent' line-up in mind. That it was written on the road bleeds through the lyrics, with it’s themes of travelling through life, and the peaks and troughs of everybody’s journey. Says Yngve “The song deals with the depression you can find yourself stuck in when you come down from the highs of performing every night; the addictive nature of everything around you and where it leads you” Despite the contemplative lyrics, a lust for life drives the music, from the spurring piano line to the insistent beat, making You’ll Be Mine an energising spirit lifter. Weight Of Your Finger hits a much more melancholy note, having been written directly in response to the suicide of a close friend of the band. Drenched in pathos, every element of the song is set perfectly and delicately together, and as soon as the song was laid down the band knew they couldn’t improve it. “It sounded right from the minute we recorded it and had very little post production. The whole way through the album recording progress it was always the song we went to to reference the sound of the other tracks and the album overall.” Brothers Yngve and Demian Wieland form the backbone of 'Yngve & The Innocent' a band which through various line-up changes has moved from Sligo on the west coast of Ireland to London where they've been based for the past 4 years. Averaging over 100 shows a year they have had a succession of breakthroughs including UK national airplay on BBC Radio 2 by non other than Steve Lemacq and playing two storming sets at the Official Arthurs Day Celebrations in Dublin in September. Their debut album 'The Sadness of Remembering' is due to be released this spring and will undoubtedly cement their place amongst the 'ones to watch' for 2012. The release of the 2011 Single 'Draw A Line' (view the official video here) saw then get favourable attention and reviews in printed publications such as Word Magazine, Artrocker and Hotpress and kicked off a hectic 6 months which saw the band tour Ireland 4 times not to mention countless U.K. shows and festival appearances and an eight date trip to Spain.
