It felt like the apocalypse. Though Rufus had always enjoyed the view from the top floor of ShinRa, the blood-red sky was doing him no favors to shake the ominous feeling that bore heavily on his shoulders. The world was looking to ShinRa to fix this looming doomsday rock that burned through the atmosphere and embedded fear into the people. When appointed to President, he thought fear would be the ultimate trump card. Now though, he realized that fear was seeping into panic.. and the sand in the dial was quickly diminishing.

Nothing had prepared him for the Diamond attack. Only the 'L' that signified his era to Presidency burned in his skull as he fell down that escape hatch into the bright room. There, he saw it on the ceiling as he sprawled out on the floor-- ribs cracked and ankle shattered.

Throughout the chaos outside, Reno and Rude happened to stumble upon the SOLDIER who was escorting others out of the path of destruction that Midgar had found itself to be in. "We need help," Reno said breathlessly, signs of where debris had struck him and peppered his face with flecks of bloodletting. Rude was no better, having lacerations on the back of his head.

"Rumor has it that Rufus might be in the carnage. We gotta keep lookin'. No body was found when the tower was struck... it's gotta be somewhere." Reno said with a dry swallow. He didn't want to think of the fact that ShinRa was done for, his newly appointed boss was missing, and all that he ever knew and cared for was lost in the rubble of what was once his home.
