Hey y’all don’t kill me

-Cuz I’m about to question the brand-spankin-new Hazbin Hotel trailer.

Actually, I’m just going to ramble about it a bit and see who comes to try and kill me.

EVEN WITH ALL OF THE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK I GIVE, I STILL CONSIDER VIVIENNE MEDRANO TO BE A CREATIVE, FUN, AND TALENTED ARTIST. 

1. The Colours

Like a ton of other things Viv has done, the colour scheme is pretty hard for me to look at sometimes. I mean, sure, Hell, black and red, right? The thing is is that the background is DRENCHED in highly-saturated red, and then there’s a few parts of it that arent that stick out like a sore thumb. 

The characters don’t have cohesive colour schemes, and the hues and such just rub me the wrong way, I guess. Some of them. But I guess that’s the charm of it. 

2. The Animation

This is a really little one, but in some parts of the trailer, you can see that the animation style (not the art style, mind) changes. This really stuck out to me, it’s rather nitpicky of me, but I think maybe even though there’s a lot of great talent animating this, maybe they should work on making the movement and such a little bit more... uniform? I love Viv’s bouncy and elastic style, and in some parts it just looked too static and awkward to be in there. The proportions move around a lot and you can reeeeeeeally tell whether or not Viv drew the frame.

3. The “Angels” vs Demons

The angels just really bothered me. Are they sent by heaven? Are they some sort of... thing created by the government of Hell to keep population down? If they’re created by heaven... I kinda want some explanation as to why they essentially look like they came out of Night Vale or a creepypasta. Not much else looks like that, even among the actual demons shown in the trailer. And it’s certainly not... heavenly looking either? If everything in heaven looks like that, what’s the difference between Heaven and Hell?

4: Miscellaneous/Minor Wonderings

The ‘hotel” bit makes zero sense to me. When thinking of “ways to describe a program to rehabilitate sinners”, the word “hotel” does NOT come to mind. Sure, as a nickname I guess it’d work, but... what?

What the heck IS Charlie? She doesn’t seem to have the respect of the people. She doesn’t even seem to have the ILLUSION of respect. How is she a “princess”? Daughter of Satan? Haven’t we heard that before? What? How was she born?? 

Who in their right mind would pick ANGEL DUST as a test run??? He seems like an end project if you know what I mean. Not exactly starting small. Maybe try a small-time murderer or smth?? Well publicity would be nice but Angel Dust doesn’t seem to want to be rehabilitated. And if he doesn’t want to be rehabilitated, wouldn’t forcing that on him be inhumane, something that Charlie said she does NOT want to be?

Also, what kind of Hell is this? What kind of people are here, and why? Why do they turn into the demon forms they do (e.g. why is Vaggie a sort of pale gothic lolita as compared to idk ANGEL DUST)?
