Bob Hope, late night storm, ancient artifacts...
1917- Staff and users given 1 hour to vacate when US takes over The Armory to quarter newly arrived military aviation trainees. July 31.
1922- Huge fire on state fairgrounds destroys Administration Building and four other buildings.
1926- Archaeologists from Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society Museum on campus unearth magnificent tortoiseshell comb in Seip Mound near Bainbridge OH. August 4.
1967- Psychedelic film festival is Underground Cinema 12 feature at World Theater, 2159 N High. Saturday night at midnight. August 5.
1987- Overnight storm with winds to 70 mph inflicts much destruction on neighborhoods to the south of campus. Power outages. Trees and branches downed throughout Victorian Village and Goodale Park. August 2.
1991- 88 year-old Bob Hope makes his 15th and final appearance at Ohio State Fair. August 4.
2009- Sweeping renovations of Main Library complete after 3 years and $109 million. Building reopens. August 3.
