It’s cold in the base tonight, much to the dismay of one specific mercenary- a new recruit. The type of cold that locks your fingers into place, the tips feeling like ice.

Unfortunately, such temperatures can cause restlessness, leading to Newbie roaming the halls, footsteps fading into background noise as they search for something to preoccupy themselves with.

Which brings them to now, where they spot Sniper’s lonely van through one of the many windows, small from how far he’s parked from the entrance of the base.

It’s close enough to see the lights are still on, however. It seems the two are sharing in their insomnia, unbeknownst to the sharpshooter.

*Newbie stared at the van from her window. She stood in a basement, maybe the supply room, hoping to see something she could use, but she got distracted. She wore a red sweater, and some fuzzy pants, pajamas she was gifted to a few years ago.*

*Newbie was hesitant, her eye twitching. She looked away from the window, frozen and still. She looked at the stairs she came down on and ran up them again with a small feeling of fear, deciding to get dressed into her usual work clothes.*

*Newbie walked forward, her eyes staring blankly at the sand. She slowly stopped and looked up, her eyes on the van. Her pupils dilate and focused on it, adjusting her goggles. Her eyes narrow slightly and she started walking again, taking a small breath. Newbie raised her hand, pushing her cap down.*

*Newbie stood beside the van, stating into one of the windows before circling around it and finding a door. She looked down at the steps and took a step on it, knocking on the door.*
