WHEN A GOOD TWO-SHOES GOES TO COLLEGE
I never thought I was doing wrong by "never telling a lie", but when I moved to college in a big national landmark city, I started to see my Southern upbringing differently.
From an early age, one by one, each member of my family plucked themselves out of the church equation, leaving me to fend for myself religiously at the pure age of 13. Never-the-less I was a church girl to the core. A Purity ring and a candle stamped letter to my future husband confiding how I've saved myself for this moment was the obvious next gesture for my life. From an early age, one by one, each member of my family plucked themselves out of the church equation, leaving me to fend for myself religiously at the pure age of 13.
Little did I know, my plans for the future were going to abruptly change. With that said a year or so before moving to college, I started to gain a stronger realization of what our world really is about. That and along with my extended family taking on the psyco side Christianity, I began to think maybe there is more for me out there than getting married and having a family. It's a dream I have, but I think it can actually take a back seat for a while. So, through the grapevine, I applied for the brand new acting program at the Academy of Art Univeristy in San Francisco, CA. Here I come Cali bound.
After living here for 6 year, I've had a lot of trials and tribulations over my faith and where it stands in my life. I need more time to think about how to put into words of where I stand. But one thing I know is, I don't need a faith to know I'm a good person and to now know to do the right thing. I know this will be tough for some family to read, but know I'm still the same girl. I'm not lost.
I know I can't be the only one who struggles with the unsurmountable situation. What specific thing do you struggle with when rearranging your faith? Help me better understand too.
