Decrypter return with Ophyrion, a death metal release that leans into melody without sacrificing intensity. While the genre often thrives on sheer force, the band opts for a more defined approach where each riff feels deliberate and every section serves the song rather than just the impact.

Azael Pérez delivers vocals that cut through the mix with clarity, lending a sense of direction rather than chaos. Giovany Arjona’s guitar work is sharp and structured, with leads that echo the melodic sensibility found in bands like Hypocrisy. Enrique Tejeda holds the low end with a steady bass foundation that adds muscle without overwhelming the track. Víctor Dorantes on drums holds it down with a powerful vibe, but leaves enough space for the guitar lines to breathe, recalling the dynamic interplay of Kannonfieber and Kampfar’s more melodic passages.

Rather than relying on relentless speed alone, Ophyrion focuses on pacing and tension. The track builds and releases with careful control, giving the melodic elements room to resonate. Decrypter show a clear understanding of songcraft, presenting a sound that is fast and brutal, but still anchored in memorable themes and well-built riffs.
