For long mysterious aeons, mortal men who claim to possess clandestine knowledge of the nature of Vampyism have often whispered one common warning...
That the Vampyre is of the Devil, and any request that Satan makes of them in return for their immortality they must fulfill...
There is no magick more sinister than this...

Happy Samhain to my mutuals and anyone seeing this!
I'm back on a Celtic history reading streak (thanks in part to @folk-metal-bracket hahaha) just in time for Samhain, or Gaulish/Celtic New Year. Great timing!
And I just realised, I know the perfect album for my impromptu celebration of this evening - Slania!
When I say perfect I mean it, it's literally in the intro:
Papon in tauile Đera ougra loucint in nemiisi Trinoxtion samonii sindiu
I don't have my CD booklet with me right now, but this roughly translates to "All is silent / Stars are shining cold tonight / The three nights of Samain begin".
Fun fact: the album is centered around four tracks named after important Celtic times of celebration during the seasons of the year - Samon, Anagantios, Giamonios and Elembivos. Makes for a very enchanting atmosphere! (if you are also fine with the melodic death metal side of things, I suppose)
And yes, Primordial Breath is my favourite song from the album :)
Dead Blue Sky - symptoms of an unwanted emotion (Good Life Recordings, 2001)
OG metal heads: look away now! What I dig about 90s and 00s metalcore is that they completely butchered metal. And not from an conscious point of deconstruction, but more from a blundering and enthousiastic kind if you will. The closer to "real" metal metalcore albums got, the least interesting they got. Both Arkangel and Liar got more praise for their later albums from the metal scene, but they were forgetable to say the least. Obviously they don't play songs from those live. Dead Blue Sky's only full-length is a peculiar one in that regard. Very prominent use of synths, hardcore vocals, At The Gates riffs and song structures that are ... special... to say the least. I just picked this up at a 10 minute drive from my place for 5€ after I noticed it goes for over 100€ on Discogs. The seller had it for sale on a local 2nd hand shop as "Death Blue Sky" as well.
