I have done many installations and collaborations with DSM over the years. There is a sort of mutual respect and understanding, and it feels increasingly natural to translate my work to their incredible environment - there’s really no other space in the world where I can imagine doing the varied range of installations I have done with DSM. If you look closely, the one figure is hovering off the ground, alluding to the enlightenment dramatised at the finale of the show. This was basically a sort of installation version of the show; distilling the same metaphorical narrative in the most condensed way possible. I was also adamant that I did not want to sell this collection in a conventional way, not wanting to wholesale this and take orders for stores around the world. This was a piece of art. So I committed to this intention by making the work only available through the actual pieces which had been created for the show. Exclusively through DSM people could buy each outfit, along with its respective sculpture, as a complete art piece. _ Photographs by A.T Studio #AitorThroup #AitorThroupStudio #NewObjectResearch #TheDesignMuseum #BeazleyDesignsoftheYear
