It hits you hard. Even in your late twenties, the blow is just as hard. Each time it hits you, you wish fate wouldn't play another cruel card. When the moment passes, you teach yourself to remember it as a lesson. But the very next second, all your old wounds begin to open. No matter how hard you try to shut your ego, Rejection hurts.
Each time you tell yourself this was the last time, never again. You blame expectations as you try to kill them, but all in vain. Your heart shatters and you begin to doubt your worth. For those moments, your rejector becomes the most important being on Earth. You can prepare yourself all you wish, but when it hits, you'll remember someone penned these words, Rejection hurts.
Sore eyes find a stranger's reflection in the mirror the next day. You feel like an ugly duckling, almost like a mistreated princess from a fairy-tale. But you always find yourself feeling braver than before Ready to face the next failure.
Yet, you'll never be ready for the tears that fall uncontrollably from your eyes, You just can't be ready enough for all those emotional outbursts.
Because rejection fuckin' hurts!
