AMResorts Announces Expansion in Dominican Republic with Two New Resorts

AmResorts is pleased to announce signing of a new resort deal that will bring the AMResorts® footprint to a new destination in the Dominican Republic. Secrets Playa Esmeralda Punta Cana and Dreams Playa Esmeralda Punta Cana will be located in Playa Esmeralda, Miches, a secluded area in the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic, only 45 minutes away from Punta Cana airport. These new deals underscore AMResorts®’ unwavering commitment to the Dominican Republic and the goal of participating in unique projects that benefit our investors as well as the surrounding communities.

These two resorts constitute the backbone of the $400-million Playa Esmeralda hospitality development that once complete, will encompass nearly 1,500 hotel units, as well as a shared promenade, where guests from all hotels will be able to mingle and have access to a convention center, a theatre for live entertainment, ample retail offerings, and a state-of-the-art fitness center and spa. The promenade will also serve as the property’s main culinary hub, featuring diverse gourmet restaurants and elevated buffets. On the initial phase, the Secrets and Dreams-branded properties will each encompass 750 luxurious rooms and suites, with 250 accommodations at each resort allocated exclusively for Preferred Club guests. Additional details on each destination below: Secrets Playa Esmeralda Punta Cana: Designed with the adults-only concept in mind, this intimate resort will feature four distinct bar concepts, four snack bars and a private lounge for Preferred Club members. Dreams Playa Esmeralda Punta Cana: Catering to families, the stunning resort will offer three snack bars, four bars, as well as its own Preferred Club lounge, an Explorer’s Club for Kids with activities for children between the ages of 3 and 12, and a Core Zone Teen’s Club with entertainment for teenagers ages 13 to 17. Miches is poised to become one of the Dominican Republic’s top markets for all-inclusive resorts. This area has been largely overlooked, despite its significant attributes; however, our team’s long history and proven experience in this market has allowed us to identify and move on this opportunity.

As part of the commitment to driving positive economic impact throughout the emerging Miches, Playa Esmeralda is expected to help create over 2,000 new jobs in the region. AMResorts expands Caribbean footprint with Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana

AMResorts Expands Presence in Curaçao with opening of first Dreams Resort

What Happened to the Riu Palace in St. Martin? A Secrets Resort is Opening in 2019

Riu Palace, St. Martin took a big hit in late 2017 when Hurricane Irma blew through the island. Luckily, a group of resort investors visited the island shortly after and saw big potential in the destruction left behind. They decided to invest $20 million into the property and re-brand it to become a Secrets resort. The renovations are still in the works and set to be completed in 2019. It's a destination to keep your eye on, as this is sure to become a world-class resort that you'll be dreaming of experiencing for yourself! Here's a sneak peek of everything Secrets plans to offer once the renovations are finished.

1. An Adults-Only Getaway

The new and improved Secrets hotel is adults-only. This doesn't mean the children can't go on their own vacation, though. Send them to grandma's house for the week or plan your adult getaway while the kids are at sleep-away camp. This allows everyone in the family to enjoy the special vacation they deserve. Remember, it's good to have your own time every once in a while. Staying at an adults-only resort means you don't have to worry about your kids while you're trying to relax.
