“HONDURAS” Written by Sara Farrington Performed by Valeria A. Avina Directed by Evan Zes Performs: April 1 6PM, April 2 8PM, April 3 6PM Valeria Avina plays 30 characters in 1 hour in these real life accounts from kids and moms who journeyed on foot from Honduras to the US, seeking asylum in the summer of zero tolerance. About the Artist: Actor, Playwright, Producer and Voice Teacher at Fordham University. Based in NYC, born and raised in Durango, Mexico. Valeria is a member of the Saudade Theatre Company, Intar UNIT52, The Flea (The Bats). She has also performed at All For One Theater, Dixon Place, Drama League, Intar, Danisarte, Teatro SEA, Bushwick Starr, The Tank, The Lark, Noor Theater and Planet Connections Festivity. In 2017, she was nominated at The Planet Connections Awards for Oustanding Lead Actress in a Play for her role in Victory Girls by Kristina Poe. Some of her TV/Film credits are commercial for Cadillac, Revlon,Stratus, Fidelis Care, Indriver,MJN Insurance, Mastercard and an episode for Ralph Friedman TV Series, The perfect Murder and POSE (FX). Recently she was part of the wonderful cast in the production of Cross-Roads by Raquel Almazan, (LaMicroTheater), Honduras by Sara Farrington (AFO,Judson Church, So-fi Festival, Michael Chekhov Theater Festival and the Tank),POSE season 2 FX (Chanel). In 2009 Valeria wrote her solo performance called ” The wound of a Nation” based on the true stories of the drug war in Mexico, the solo was inspired by her real life and people around her during the war. “GOD GIRL” Written and Performed by Heather Danielsen Directed by Patrick McCartney Performs on April 2 8PM, April 4 8pm, April 5 2pm God Girl is one woman’s journey of finding freedom, one sin at a time. Growing up in the extremely religious South, this empathetic girl experiences brainwashing that gave her hope and dictated her future. As she reached adolescence, the values she held no longer gave her guidance – only a lot of very awkward encounters with the opposite sex. Desperate to escape the oppressive culture she must comply with, she goes to NYC. She is free here, but maybe she lets it go too far. Much too far; she didn’t ask for that, not that. What will God Girl learn to believe in? About the Artist: Heather Danielsen hails from the south. She is a Theatre graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, where she studied acting and dance and was a member of APO. Since moving to NYC, she has performed improv (PIT house team), sketch, and stand-up all over the city.
