Haebangchon(=Liberation Village), Seoul.
Haebangchon(해방촌) is translated into liberation village in English because Haebang(해방) means liberation and Chon(촌) is a village. Right after the Korean ‘Liberation’ from the Japan in 1945 and Korean War in 1950, many displaced refugees from North Korea came into Seoul and placed their new home here. It was originally a very poor village but the scenery is so good that many rich people started to gather here as time gose by and now, a lot of foreigners live here. You can see more foreigners on the streets than Koreans in Haebangchon.
