Managed services is industry lingo for IT outsourcing. IT outsourcing, which is arguably a better name, never caught on due to the negative connotation with lost jobs to foreign countries. With managed services, you can outsource all or part of your IT operations to a third-party company. This company would then be your 'managed services provider'.
