I made a list of things I want for the next game, just quality of life things:
No mod should be needed to turn off either UI or character notifications (text, sounds, etc.)
The UI should let you select a mission objective in a map without issue, even if there are other icons in the map like your vehicle or other missions objectives
The UI should have a clear map. I mean, that's my preference, I hate guessing what things mean. I want the clearest map of them all, so that I know where to go and where things are just by looking at it.
No "do I have to climb a giant mountain here or is there a path in a cave underneath???" guessing. (I mean, if we were talking about a sandbox/exploration game I would say fine, go ahead obviously, but I don't think this is it). Also multiple floors mean a more advanced map
Management of squadmates discussions: One of the things Veilguard did well is that they stopped the companions talking if there was a fight and later they would resume so you could hear them properly. It's just a matter of saying "Where were we?". That's really needed. You should also have a bit of time after loading so you don't hear a dialogue immediately or feel like you're dropped in the middle of it.
Management of ambient discussions/dialogues: You can have a location that feels "alive" with ambient dialogues but we shouldn't hear everything all at once. It's pointless.
Ambient noise: I don't think it's ideal to hear the wild breath of an animal enemy who's 100 metres away when I actually chose not to kill it and I'm inside a new building. Very distracting.
Combat and cutscenes: Ideally, if you don't have a finished fight on your hand, I don't think you should have a cutscene, OR you have a cutscene but the fighting is put on hold. Because both at the same time is just a bit too much!
Less friction with vehicles: I know at this point it's a tradition for us but OH MY GOD. Please less friction, I just want to get from point A to B, I'm not a driver!!!!!!!!!!! With my luck we'll end up with a Hammerhead type of vehicle the entire time, noooooooo
