Aspiring directors take note - there's now a tool that can turn any footage into cinematic greatness. Thanks to Nexvio's 8mm app, iPhones and iPads can be turned into vintage video cameras that will catalog all of your holiday revelry in a format that's old-school cool.

    Recently optimizing the 8mm app for iPhone 5, Nexvio's program makes it insanely simple to shoot and share classic clips; 8mm users can record through a variety of filter themes, mimicking films from the 60s, 70s, and 20s or tapping into color-based options like Noir, Pela, Sakura, Siena, and XPro. And to add even more authenticity, would-be cinematographers can manually create shutter shakes and "frame jitters" while filming.

Though Gizmodo accused the app of "cribbing" too heavily from Hipstamatic's uber-popular platform, we're obsessed with 8mm's addictively entertaining expansion on the vintage footage concept, and we consider the app's $1.99 price tag beyond reasonable for the preservation of priceless memories.
