Moritz Böhringer walks several miles a day back and forth from practice
GFL wide out Moritz Boehringer is a pretty humbled individual
Moritz Böhringer is the first player to be drafted directly from Europe, and the sixth round pick of the Vikings does not think like your typical American football player.
In an interview with TransferWise, the German star said he does not want to spend his money on a car, when he can walk.
“The main reason I walk everywhere is I don’t have a car because I wanted to save money,” he said. “Every morning I just walk to the facility and in the afternoon I walk back. My girlfriend thinks that’s pretty crazy because, like most Americans, she drives everywhere. In Germany it’s very different to the United States in many ways.”
This is a pretty interesting story because reports say Bohringer lives three miles away from the facility. If that is the case, he will be in great shape after the season if he walks 6 miles a day, especially in the snow.

Vikings signed former Bills DL Claudell Louis
The Vikings have signed rookie free agent DT Claudell Louis, the team announced on Saturday. Louis, native of Haiti, played his college football at Fresno State.
Louis moved to the United States from Haiti in 2001 and graduated from Boynton Beach Community High School in Florida in 2009. He stopped playing football after his freshman year of high school and worked a wage job at a retirement home to help his immigrant family make ends meet, before returning to the sport in college.
Louis played two seasons of junior college football before spending another two campaigns at Fresno State, where he was an Honorable Mention All-Mountain West selection as a senior in 2015.
Louis became a US Citizen back on June 2nd, 2016 along with his Mother.

Vikings quarterback tried to kick open a door and injured himself
Taylor Heinicke injured himself in a very bizarre way. The former Old Dominion quarterback was trying to kick open a door after returning from a late night movie and realizing he was locked out. The problem was he kicked through the window and severed a tendon in his left foot. The former ODU star talked about it, but will likely miss several months trying to rehab it.
“I was locked out of my house after a late-night movie,” Heinicke said via the Pioneer Press. “I came back and there’s no one home, and I’m trying to nudge the door a little. It was one of those double doors. I thought it just needed a little nudge.
“Me and my buddy were getting it going a little, but when I put my foot to the door, my foot kind of slipped and it went through a window. It was just kind of a freak accident. I’m very embarrassed, but I’m just excited getting going with rehab and trying to get this going as soon as possible.”
The Vikings could be a team interested in signing Nick Foles now that Heinicke is injured.

Vikings sign head coach Mike Zimmer to a contract extension
Vikings have reached an agreement with Mike Zimmer on a contract extension
Today the Minnesota Vikings signed head coach Mike Zimmer to a contract extension. Zimmer has led Minnesota to a record of 18-14 (56.3 percent) to go along with one NFC North title and an 11-5 record in 2016.
“Mike has instilled a very positive atmosphere over the past three years and our players have thrived under his tutelage and leadership,” owner Zygi Wilf said in a statement. “His focus on helping our players develop and maximize potential, individually and collectively, is critical for our current and future success. We believe the continuity established with Mike leading our football team is a very positive step for our organization.”

Report: Vikings German draft pick is struggling to pick up the playbook
GFL wide out Moritz Boehringer has been struggling so far in Minnesota
According to ESPN 1500 Twin Cities, sixth-round WR Moritz Bohringer is on the “outside looking in” for a roster spot. The German star was drafted in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and while he has all the intangibles the mental part of the game seems to be troubling him.
ESPN’s Ben Goessling believes Bohringer will likely begin his career on the practice squad.
Bohringer admitted that he was struggling with the “mental” side of the game, and he reportedly dealt with drops during the offseason program. Drops happen, but the former German superstar still has a ton of growing room. Remember he did not play a ton of football. I would not give up on the young pass catcher just yet. I think he will be fine, just needs a little bit of time.

Vandal threw a rock through the glass window of the new Vikings stadium
A currently unidentified vandal broke a street-level window at the new U.S. Bank Stadium, only two days before the official grand opening of the Minnesota Vikings new facility.
The hole was big enough that someone could have entered the stadium, but that did not happen.
