Summary:
She has always been simply a shield, nameless in a way that perfectly reflected her status as merely a shadow, until he helped drag her into focus. She isn't sure what she is now, but that isn't something worth wasting breath on. He risked getting too close to their shared monster, and he may have got away this time, but he needs her now. There is no one else around anymore to take care of him besides her, and she wouldn’t trust them anyway if they were. She can fix this.
