Also, I just want to say that (the umpires can punish Rabada for staring down Steve Smith) people can say what they want about Rabada's attitude but KG staring down Steve Smith after getting his wicket in the first innings is the most iconic dismissal and reaction that I have seen this year so far. Watching Steve Smith trying to muster a glare in reply but failing to make it as effective and as iconic as Rabada's and then subsequently walking off was my favorite part of this test. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Equation was simple for Punjab. They had to beat CSK and hope erst of the results go in their favour. CSK won the toss and elected to bowl. Punjab brought back Mayank and Neesham and dropped Arshdeep and Maxwell.  Mayank-Rahul started brilliantly like they have done all IPL. They had 48 run stand in under 6 overs before Ngidi dismissed Mayank for 26. That just opened the floodgates for CSK. Punjab were reduced to 72-4 from 48-0. All 4 top order batsmen (Mayank, Rahul, Gayle and Pooran) were dismissed. Ngidi in particular impressed. Hood gave Punjab something to defend with 30 ball 62. CSK needed 154 to win. Punjab scored 58 runs in last 5 overs. Once Faf and Rituraj got going, it was clear that there would be just one winner. Shami was the lone trump card for Rahul. He started off poorly by bowling 5 wides in his first over. That sealed the competition for Punjab. Gaikwad’s unbeaten 62 helped CSK win by 9 wickets with 7 balls to spare. Rituraj became first CSK player to score 3 consecutive fifties. His innings was key in CSK winning 3 matches in a row.  CSK have knocked Punjab out of competition. Had they showed more patience in youngsters in past season and early this season, they could have been in playoff. Their thought to open with Sam just to accommodate Jadhav for 3 matches was prime reason they have been knocked out. This is the first IPL where all teams have won minimum of 6 matches. MSD wanted spark from youngsters but they exploded like Diwali crackers in last 3 matches. This is a learning for CSK to give youngsters enough chance and not just rely on experienced players. Experienced players win matches but youngsters performance and enthusiasm would take the team and legacy forward which is very critical for team owners. MI is prime example of that. They have groomed the likes of Ishan, Pandya brothers, Bumrah and now Rahul Chahar brilliantly.

Liverpool came back in typical style to beat West ham 2-1 after being 0-1 down. Salah and Jota scored the goals for Liverpool. Chelsea thrashed Burnley 3-0. In La Liga, Barca continued to be poor as Alaves held them to a 1-1 draw. Barca are placed at 12th position with 8 points. They are 9 points behind Real Sociedad and 8 points behind Real Madrid but have played a game less. They need to up the ante.

RR had a dream start as Archer dismissed Rana for his 3rd golden duck in last 5 matches. He has scored 81 and 87 in other 2 innings. Gill and Tripathi took the attack to RR post Archer’s first spell. They had 72 run stand in 49 balls before Tewatia gave RR the edge. He dismissed Gill and Narine in one over to reduce KKR to 74-3. Tripathi was later dismissed for 39. Dinesh Karthik became erd batsmen to be dismissed for a duck in this innings. KKR 99-5 after 12.3 overs. Russell and Morgan then ripped apart RR attack for 3 overs. In 3 overs they scored 45 runs which included a 21 run over by Shreyas. Tyagi dismissed Russell in the nick of time. KKR 144-6 after 15.3 overs. Had these 2 batted for another 2 obvers, KKR could have scored 220. Morgan hit hard in his 35 ball 68 but RR reduced KKR to 191-7. Vital for KKR was 19th over when Morgan-Cummins smashed Stokes for 24 runs. RR need to chase 185 plus in 3rd consecutive game.  If RR win their match inside 13 obvers, their NRR would be above that of RCB and DC. RR started off with achieving that intention. Uthappa smashed Cummins for a six of the first ball. Stokes scooped Cummins a for a six. 19 runs came of first 5 balls. Cummins then dismissed Uthappa of the final ball. From 19-0, Cummins helped KKR reduce RR to 37-5. Cummins grabbed 4-fer inside 3 overs. Smith, Stokes, Uthappa, Samson and Parag were all dismissed inside 5 overs. With this match position, KKR now looked like overtaking RCB and DC NRR. RR should have played normal cricket for 3-4 overs atleast. Even if they win at normal runrate, they could have reached playoff if MI beat SRH which looks highly likely.  Butler and Tewatia had to consolidate score and they did. They took score to 74-5 at half way stage. Against the run of play, Varun dismissed Butler for 35. RR 80-6. Tewatia had won a few games for RR this season but this looks too big even for his standards. He was eventually dismissed by Varun for 31. RR 105-7. KKR beat over aggressive RR by 60 runs to keep their playoff chances alive. KKR have not been in playoff for only 2 years since 2011 and this experience showed.  KKR were at 8th position before this match. They have now moved to 4th position. They would now need SRH to lose or else DC/RCB to lsoe badly.
