Shop Up | A Babyccino Kids Event
We have just got home from the Babyccino event - Shop Up. I have been an avid user of the Babyccino directory ever since Judy was a blueberry sized embryo (TMI?). I was on the hunt for design led, thoughtful & unique children's fashion, furniture & toys & this is exactly where to start your search! Independent boutiques of the UK & beyond, Babyccino is the antithesis of the mundane High Street. Thank Heavens! This pop-up event in Primrose Hill was a brilliant & obvious step to platform these wonderful boutiques.

The event had firm favourites of mine, Niddle Noddle selling Vintage, vintage style, pocket money & just beautiful toys it is certainly worth a visit to their website & having spoken to the ladies they have just opened a shop in Crouch End which I shall have to visit as I forgot to purchase a few items today! Their stalls are FILLED with nostalgia so it can only delight in an actual permanent shop. Oh so lovely!
Relatives ask us for an idea of what Judy would like for Christmas & her birthday , so when I see something I bookmark it so I don't need to hunt when the time comes (I can't believe I am so organised at this). As it turns out most of my bookmarks are from Little Citizen's Boutique. These too made an appearance at Shop Up & I was pleased to see that Judy had taken a shine to the items that are on the list! Hurrah! the Pippi Longstockings bits above - I loved that film when I was a child!
La Coqueta was a brand I hadn't come across before. Spanish clothing for boys & girls with a shop in Hampstead. I will certainly be taking Judy's nanny to get her Christmas outfit from. Beautiful checks & florals in soft brushed fabrics. SO cosy & easy to wear in the winter & gorgeous boots that I would take in my size if they went up that far. You know, beautiful clothing with no slogans, no characters just for the kids to be. To be themselves in.
Eeny Meeny - a shop I couldn't wait to visit in Tufnell Park once I discovered it early last year. It holds great toys starting at pocket money prices, great books & clothes - such as the fun Tootsa MacGinty (who also had a stand at Shop Up. I should have purchased the Cloud jumper whilst I was there. Ah regret!), & the great Saltwater sandals. I have my eye on these yellow ones for Judy next summer!
Big Picture Press had an outstanding array of books. We had a great time browsing & have made note of Maps, a beautifully illustrated book for when Judy gets that bit older.
Something else I am looking forward to when Judy gets older is being able to subscribe to Anorak Magazine. Just wow. Colourful, bright, funny with reviews like this “Anorak is what would happen if Monty Python, Ralph Steadman and René Magritte decided to make a magazine for children.It's anarchic, fun, laugh-out-loud strange and readable for kids of all ages.” —Huffington Post. Well I am certain I shall be writing about this to come - but in the mean time Judy & her friend Millie enjoyed collaborating on this colouring in wall!
