Happy Birthday to Nicholas Daniel who will be celebrating his 40th with us at Kings Place with two delightful concerts.
Joining him are a whole host of special guests, friends and family such as Katya Apekisheva, Charles Owen and his two sons Alastair & Patrick Farrall-Daniel.
Excitingly he will also be the world's first musician to play the world's first Fair Trade oboe!
"I am very excited and happy to announce that in co-operation with Marigaux, Sound and Fair and the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) I will be playing the World's first Oboe made from accredited Fairly Traded African Blackwood, Mpingo, from Tanzania at my birthday concerts in Kings Place on the 3rd and 4th of October.
This is the fruition of years of work from the parties involved, most notably Sound and Fair, and a generous leap of faith from Marigaux, the first Oboe Maker ever to follow this process with the stringent requirements of the FSC.
This means so much to me, but its also a life changing difference to people on another continent living very different lives over in Tanzania.
The beautiful Mpingo wood harvested by these hard working people enable me to follow my creative path as an Artist, making the sounds I want to make and creating new works to vouchsafe the future of my instrument."
