who: nicholas bruce & open where: White Rabbit Maze
Nicholas had started the maze with an old friend. Old in that Nicholas had known him since school, friend in the sense that they had shared rooms for a year, and Nicholas still felt obligated to spend time with him occasionally. In reality he could not stand the fellow. One of the reasons Nicholas could not stand him was that the man had no ability to pay attention to anything for more than a few moments. They had been in the maze for a few seconds before his companion declared the whole thing an overly difficult bore and disapeared.
Now Nicolas was alone. The maze which had seemed whimsical in a group was more terrifying when navigated by an individual. Every shadow was making him jump, the smallest sound of the wind causing his heart to clench.
"Dear god!" Nicholas swore, jumping with fear at the sudden appearance of a person behind him. They were reflected in the mirror in such a way that they appeared more like a faceless shadow than a real person, although he knew that was ridiculous. "I thought this maze was supposed to be fun!" He said, turning to face the figure. "Instead I find myself jumping at every shadow."
