“please,” samira follows you around the ED. “i’ve been waiting for these chest CT results forever. he likes you! i’m sure if you ask he’ll pull them out of thin air.”
“samira,” you say with a laugh. “he’s a busy guy. i can’t just ask him to prioritise your results. that isn’t how anything works around here.”
her eyes go all puppy dog and you sigh.
“fine,” you throw your hands up. “but just this once.”
“i’ll never ask again.” she responds, even though you know that’s a lie.
you pick up the phone at the nurses’ station and call radiology. you’re transferred to nick on the second ring, and you can hear the smile in his voice as he greets you.
“to what do i owe the pleasure of you calling me?” he jokes and you roll your eyes with a fond smile.
“are you gonna hate me if i say CT results?”
“give me the name of the patient and i’ll see what i can do.”
half an hour later, nick comes downstairs to personally deliver the results. mohan watches the exchange alongside santos, whitaker, javadi, and even dana (who has stopped what she’s doing to gape at the two of you).
“you’re a life saver,” you tell him as he hands you the document. “thanks, nick. i really appreciate it.”
“don’t worry about it,” he says softly, fingertips brushing against yours with an easy smile that makes your heart do backflips. “there is one thing you could do to repay me, though.”
“what’s that?” you ask.
“dinner. tomorrow night. i know a great italian place.”
you smile, already nodding before he can finish his sentence, “i love italian food.”
“perfect. are you on shift?”
“yes, but i should hopefully get off around seven.”
he nods, “okay, tomorrow at seven.”
you share a smile that’s filled with hope for what this could be.
“i better get back upstairs.” he nods towards the elevator.
“yeah, of course,” you hold up the results. “thanks, again.”
“no problem. i’ll see you tomorrow night.”
when you hand samira the document once nick has gone, she grins at you, “see. i told you he likes you.”

Ok I’ll be controversial: i dont get the Shark hype. We saw him once. I understand that actor has a huge fanbase but in terms of screen time, Dr. Barker the radiologist has had more lines and people thirsting for him.
I want more Dr. Barker thirst! Get him in the fics.
