Shilmai / Nidbai - Angel of Enlightenment Reference Sheets
Shilmai Nidbai is the angel of enlightenment, cleanser of Karma, and forger of soulmates. They are one angel piloted by two contrary entities; recognized among humans as "Yin" (Shilmai) and "Yang" (Nidbai). Their two halves often split into the forms of a crow and a dove, and when combined, they will take the form of a raven or human vessel. As enlightenment is the end goal of all mortal life, Shilmai Nidbai shares a close, familial relationship with Death to ensure all souls are directed closer to their own path to enlightenment.
The names of Shilmai and Nidbai take inspiration from the two uthras with the same names in Mandaic mythology, who guard the heavenly river, Piriawis. The inspiration comes from this angel being comprised of two separate entities, and as the river is a symbolism of spiritual cleansing, Shilmai and Nidbai naturally took a liking to these Mandaic icons.
