The video was created by Chelsea Winstanley, director of a forthcoming documentary on the sprawling survey of Māori contemporary art.
In case you want to know more about the documentary the recent auction was about, a documentary Toitū: Visual Sovereignty made by Chelsea Winstanley about the Māori contemporary art exhibition Toi Tū Toi Ora in Auckland. Taika narrates the video and some of his art was exposed at the exhibition, and I guess sold at the auction.
Nigel Borell, curator of Māori art, said he had employed the creation narrative as 'a way to enter into a conversation about the importance of Māori art and artists, and to explore what unites these artists across space and time.'
