Bilyamin Muhammed Bello, the son of a former PDP chairman, Haliru Bello, died Saturday after he was allegedly stabbed by his wife, Maryam Sanda, at their Maitama, Abuja residence. The couple got married on October 2015.Their grand wedding was widely covered. According to reports, the attack stemmed from anallegation of infidelity after she saw a text message on his phone. The deceased was stabbed 3 times in the back; and severally on his private parts, at their home in Maitama, Abuja. Before this, Maimuna had bit part of his ear off and was treated at a hospital before returning home. He was advised to leave the house but he refused. After stabbing him, she drove himto the hospital where he died. Late Binyamin Bello has since been buried according to Islamic rites in Abuja after his janaza at Abuja national Mosque on 19th November, 2017. May his soul rest in Jannatul Firdaus amin thumma amin. She was arraigned this today for offenses bordering on culpable homicide. Maryam could not control her emotion as she burst into tears upon her arrival at the court holding her six-month-old baby. Maryam covered her face a with a green scarf to prevent being photographed by the media. Before the commencement of the court proceedings, she read from the Quran. When the two count charges of homicide were read to her, Maryam pleaded not guilty. The defense counsel, Hussein Musa asked the court to let the defendant be in the police custody arguing that she is still a nursing mother and would be improper to be remanded in prison custody.
