Been sitting with this one for a while. Kept feeling off about it. But I got it where I wanted it and I like it! I posted some process stuff on the P@treon with the like value work and stuff if that's interesting at all unu

But yeah, I've been wanting to draw this little scene in my head for a while, and I did some new stuff with it for value studying and I think it paid off. I'm really happy with it at least!

Been really idly trying to get creature design work done on Nightmare Syndicate, and one of the biggest things nagging me has always been that Felix is still too human in his monster form.

I wanted to pull from his mother a bit design-wise with the multiple eyes, the radial effect and just sort of that entering uncanny territory. I'm gonna keep pushing it, but I like the direction I've found!

Vel is kind of one of my favorite designs I'm nailing down right now. I was heavily inspired by the thought of the brigh bubbly pillar of generosity being like a weird hunched, selfish, hoarding like creature?

I was thinking of the build of the Skeksis from Dark Crystal but not... there's something in specific from my childhood I'm thinking of for the shape - which the top left is more scrunched and closer to what I want.

I'm thinking to mix a Borzoi skull, a goose skull and a horse skull together and visualizing skin stretched tight over it.

But I love the idea of it... it's going to be so good once I get it done!!

Being the Pillar of Light, and with the tattle-tale nature of her own banishment, I designed Luimalurri to be sort of a prickly, towering figure. She can turn her head around 360 degrees and her eyes are like giant spotlights. She moves at an alarming pace, with horrible tentacles under her and her dress. The design went from being like FLAKING OFF skin to more like tightly applied skin to the skull.

Adding in the old concept art to expand on it, and to imply the textures better. The scene of her meeting Siali is one I want to illustrate sometime specifically because I like the idea of Siali being hunted in the woods by, you know, a walking flashlight guard tower lol.
